I went walking in the woods with my friend the other day and figured I'd go ahead and bring a little sac to collect any interesting mushrooms I say. I've done a bit of hunting before, the only thing of significance i've found were some chanterelles two years ago, and i would definetely like to find some this year. I want to get more into mushroom hunting in general, i can't ID worth shit, so I need to work on that. Anyways, here are the picks, I appologize for not having them in their habitats, I'll have to bring a camera next time. and i should have the spore prints up pretty soon.I would also like to add that a majority of these were actually found on the side of a path that lead back the apartment complex that the woods were behind. And the apartment complex was home to a friend who lives smack dab in the middle of TN
#1

Habitat:Ground, on the side of a frequented path Gills:White, attached Stem:White, fibrous, slightly spongy. 2-3 cm thick Cap:Off-white, slightly tan. uneven surface. 3.5 in. diameter No bruising observed
#2

Habitat:Ground, on the side of a frequented path Gills:Dark Brown, Free Stem: Tan, hairy-ish texture, partial veil remnant. 1-2 cm thick Cap: Tan, darker in the center, Hairyish Texture, nice round dome shaped No bruising observed
#3

Habitat:Ground, on the side of a frequented path Gills: White, attached Stem:White, chode-like, a good 4 cm thick Cap:Light brown, varied coloring, round. 4 inches or so diameter no bruising apparent smelled fishy
#4
same as #3, slightly smaller, and with slightly darker caps
#5

Habitat:Ground, on the side of a frequented path Gills: Off-white, free Stem:White, fragile, partial veil remnant. Cap:White, yellowish at center, slightly domed no bruising apparent
#6

same as #2 but darker cap, more convex.
#7
 Same as #3 and #4 I think
#8

Habitat: In the woods, growing off a tree root Pores: quite small, white Cap:many different colors, I see some browns, some purples, maybe a lil green, some white
everything I found(i didn't take individual picture of all of them)

my only guesses are: #3, #4, #7-Lyophyllum decastes - fried chicken mushroom (I'm a vegetarian, so this is really more of a hope than a guess) #8 - turkey tail maybe??
any ID's appreciated, sorry if they pics are kinda shitty, i will add spore prints as soon as I get them.
also, not that I intend on picking every mushroom I find, but, what is the best way to bring home the more fragile mushrooms I find without destroying them beyond recognition. I found these really cool looking red slimy mushrooms and they did not make the journey home, would have loved to shown those.

spore prints: #1 white #2 black #3 white #5 brown
dat's all the ones i checked
it was prob within 10 miles of radnor lake, but the park rangers always bitch about picking mushrooms there. but i always love to know where good places are to pick so thanks. can't wait for june, i'm going to scour the land for chanterelles, god I hope the bug population is under control this summer.
I agree that 3 4 and 7 are in the Lyophyllum decastes group, and i have a bunch of them and if that is what they are i really want to eat them, like, you have no idea how curious i am to see if they taste like fried chicken.
Should i do it? there's no deadlies that i could mistake it for are there?

last year was bad, after the floods there was no rain. i've found some pretty good spots, perhaps i'd be down for a hunt. any week now and there'll be chanterelles.
and by the way, those are fried chicked mushrooms and they're fuckin delicious!!!!!
