i thought it was boring too. like an mtv produced "dont do drugs" video with stereotypes. its built to depress and scare, thats why its so annoying. it is a program.

i thought it was decent, i didnt find any of the characters that interesting though, probably the writers etc couldnt get inside a head of a addict to the right degreee.
trainspoting however is fantastic,
i love the scene where renton is having dinner with his family "being normal" when they have no idea the crazy shit he has been through, i get the same feeling myself sometimes

Never liked this movie for some reason, even though I watched it a couple times and tried to. That little sequence they did whenever someone used drugs really annoyed me. Trainspotting was much better IMO.

like an mtv produced "dont do drugs" video with stereotypes.

I didn't get any "don't do drugs" or stereotypes, do you feel that just because it has roles with specific characteristics it is stereotyped?
I mean, I wouldn't rate it as my fav but it was a nice film to watch, even funny.
And it has a GREAT soundtrack.

Part of the film was that his mothers drug of choice was TV.  The film was a comparison between TV and drugs both as addictions.

I don't believe it was made solely for the purposes you state.

They made it real obvious.  They keep cutting to scenes of the mother taking prescription drugs and watching TV in this fantasy world then cutting back to the lads jacking up with their drugs and fantasy of choice.

I don't really consider that a matter of interpretation  its not like it was subtle.

i do because i didnt make that connection at all

you just notice shit that you already think of in other stuff. even if it wasnt intended. and it can still portray that. just not to everyone.

art is up for interpretation like that.

what do you think when you see "the scream"? it might be different from what i think. but what i think is what i think it means, and as such i would maybe consider it a blatant fact rather than a matter of interpretation because i immediately noticed/thought it. but i realize that just because i think that about a work of art it doesnt make it intended and other peoples thoughts may differ from my own.

kind of like this.

The soundtrack is great. Clint Mansell is the shit. I agree with b0red5tiff when he says it seemed like an mtv produced "dont do drugs" video but the movie isnt a bad one.

I prefer Pi.

Also, sometimes what youre looking for.

Things pop out when you are seeking them.

But on that note, I agree.  T.V. Addiction is in there.  It also contrasts perscription drugs from illicit drugs to make you question; What is a drug?

LOL!

PUPRLE IN THE MORNING, BLUE IN THE AFTERNOON, AND ORANGE IN THE EVENING!

Where is that doctor at?? Perscribed mounds of meth and sedatives to make her sleep lol.

I do believe adderall was a form, or variation, the old lady was taking.

I totally agree with the OP, the movie definitely gets boring after half way through, I couldn't make it all the way. :frown:

Fair point.

You know you should get your sis off that shit...  theres no way daily amphetamine sulphate is helping anyone with anything.

"Oh but she can't concentrate"  nor can anyone in the 3 second attention span generation our environment has caused us to live in   these FOR PROFIT pharm companies are just manufacturing mass prescriptions for things that every human has.

I'll put money down that shit will do more worse than good.  Its sickening that they are dishing out such an addictive euphoriant drug with known side effects of extreme paranoia under the guise of helping attention spans.

The only illness here is the lack of education and apathy of people accepting this shit we are all being spoon fed.

ive already told her my opinion on it.

thats why i call her a meth addict, because she still takes it

but in all seriousness, its not a problem. its not like shes busting them out and snorting them or taking multiple pills at a time. shes taking them as recommended. and ive said this before, so i guess ill say it again, taking a pharmaceutical as recommended (ignoring rare reactions due to specific body chemistry, drug interactions, etc) will not cause harm to you.

I respect your opinions sir - I believe you are an intelligent poster but I'm not so sure about that ^

I've personally experienced heart palpitations, chest pains and extreme paranoia and anxiety coming off even tiny amounts.  That could just be me but after my experiences I consider it far from safe.

I personally think it could potentially kill me after experiencing the chest / heart pains it gave me.  I had only consumed 5mg as well.  I have known people use it regularly and claim no ill effect though so maybe its just me.

Yeah Im not to sure about that either cuz docs dont always know whats best.  My sub doc Rx'd me suboxone, trazodone, clonidine, paxil, ativan.  I only take the sub and ativan and occasionly clonidine but it says right in the medication booklet that comes with my Rx for trazodone that it should not be taken along with any ssri antidepressants and the combo can be dangerous and my doc never told me that nor did I know when he Rx'd paxil.  Luckily I never took the paxil anyway but still you would think a doctor would know the combo of whatever drugs hes prescribing is dangerous and shouldnt be taken together.
