Cobweb Mold on Dry Verm?

So tonight, my first attempt at birthing started. 5 of my 10 jars were done, so i pulled them out, got everything ready, and started taking off lids.
Now overall, all 5 looked like next time they need less water (i already guess that much as i have noticed excessive condensation for a few days). The dry verm on them all was at the very least, moist, and at the most soaked. This i have noted, and i'' be addressing it next round.
This is where i start to worry about my first attempt at all of this. On 2 of the 5 jars, the wet verm had a very small amount of cobweb mold growing on it. Located only at the inoculation points, it was less than a dime in diameter, and didn't seem to go too deep. So, i rinsed them well, gave them all a sniff (i noticed a SLIGHT scent of dirt, but it was VERY minor and mostly was just a smell of mushy). Deciding thy were fine, into the birthing chamber they went.
So my question is, did i do the right thing? Or should i have just tossed the 2 jars that had the mold. Again, i couldn't find any on actual mycelium, it seemed like it was just on the verm istelf.
Thanks again for your responses shroomerites, and i apologize if this answer is around somewhere, i did a search and didn't come up with much =D

Well as you can see i never got a response, and i didnt want to shamelessly bump my own question so, heres what happened so far:
I removed the dry verm and minor amounts of Cobweb and did my dunk and roll like normal. They had kind of an off color to them, not pure white, but not dirty.
Well, after about a week now in the sgfc, they have fuzzed up, puffed out a bit, and look a brilliant white. It doesn't seem that any of the cobweb mold ever got in deep enough to have an effect (again,i was passed 100 colonization when i noticed the tiny amount of cob under the lid).
I just added another 2 cakes to the sgfc, those 2 had a small amount of cobweb as well, but once again, only on top and not seemingly in any substrate/mycelium.
Seems to me, if you have the same problem as me (as in, it is isolated almost entirely to the dry verm barrier) then just scrape that layer off, and dunk and roll like normal. I would NOT do it, if it were trich, or appeared on any of the actual mycelium itself.
Obviously, im a noob ;D so hopefully some pro's will see this pathetic thread of mine and give us some input!

Sometimes the mycelium grows into the verm layer, maybe that is what you are seeing...

I had thought that, but it was definitely not mycelium, which i can only say because of its color (nothing like the color of the actual mycelium).
They have been in the chamber for about 10 days now, but no pins yet. I can't really see anything wrong with them so far, other than taking too long of course =D

Anything that smells like dirt is mold and should be tossed out. RR

I definitely thought this, but again, the dirt smell was barely even noticeable, in fact I almost thought I might have been imagining the smell. Once rinsed, it smelled only like 'mushy'.
