Piss me off man.
Bad enough I live in a city, now the hospital, that is like.. 300 yards away from my front door got a heli-pad.
C'mon man, I have drugged sleep, I start to feel drowzy around this time, ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN HELICOPTER!!!
But I suppose if it's saving someones life, then I'm all for it!
I'm two sided... a two sided mess of sorts!

You'll get used to it. I live within 3 miles of a major airport and hear sirens and city buses all night long. Took me about a month or two to get used to but now I just tune it out.

Every morning a sheriff's helicopter flies over and observes me in my garden. I'm going to garden naked one of these days.

Sometimes the crickets outside my window are loud as hell.
And when the wind blows my bamboo windchimes sound off...
Seriously though, helipads are loud as hell. I lived a few hundred yards from one for a year. There was a firestation on the other side.

I get the drug choppers and a lot of military craft, it's cool as fuck when I'm out in the fields with the kids and 4 C-130s drop in real low, at 500' over the tree tops ground shakes, it's like having your own private air show

I used to cut messages in my grass for the drug choppers, sometimes I'd do a totally random bunch of swirls and shit, one time it was an arrow and the word drugs pointing across the street, they didnt buy it, they scoured my place harder... the fuckers fly about 50-100 feet off the ground, caught them trying to get a peek in my barn a few times

I live in a city now (although small) it's still quite fucking annoying. I miss living on a farm, hearing only crickets and the predictable train whistle every 4 hours...

Speaking of... that's what my pops flies(not so much now), but used to. He was spec ops at pope and then did work with NYANG and after that worked for the NSF out of Christchruch, NZ into Antarctica. I know I'm derailing here but were you USAF, Army, or what Pris?

In my last nj visit last month, i was asking my friends the same thing.. "doesn't it seem like there's a hell of a lot more people flying than when we were kids?" and they barely even noticed it.. of course i was visiting from the NC mountains

Well you gotta consider that between Newark, JFK, LaGuardia, and Teterboro airports, North Jersey is one of the most busy places in the US when it comes to air traffic. You get so used to seeing planes flying over that you don't even bother looking for stars (not that you could see them anyway, light pollution drowns out all but maybe 5).
I was trying to get a shot of the lunar eclipse a few years ago and came out with this photo due to all the air traffic:

RP, those helicopters are probably saving lives. Most hospitals do not have helipads unless they're regional trauma or burn centers and in many states it can be several hundred miles until the next one and when you're heavily burnt or chopped up and even a minute makes a difference, you want a helipad.

Pris, that's a black chopper. You sure you didn't do something to piss off the CIA instead?
You've inspired me to bust out the 500mm lens and snag a photo of the pilot as he flies over. Where does my property line in the sky end?
I can get nice and close:

I live in a tourist city and they do helicopter tours in the warm months. I have to listen to that shit from morning to sunset every freaking day. So annoying and frustrating
