Quick Casing Question

So for my casing mix I used 50/50 peat/verm and 4 colonized 1/2 pint jars. I crumbled the jars in bags and used a technique I found from roger rabbit; putting some mix down then a layer a verm and continuing untill full then wait 7-10 days. Its been 8 days and the casing is covered in mycellium balls about a half inch thick. Is this sufficient to put the top layer of mix or should I wait until the casing is snow white with mycellium?

Wait! What? U did something wrong here...u mixed casing layer and bulk! Casing is non nutriant layer you put on top of your fully colonised sub to create perfect micro climate! If i understand...you used peat moss/verm mix as a bulk sub? WRONG! Back to a drawing board! Search is your best friend here!
You want to mix your "jars"(as u said) with some nutriant substrate(coir,h poo,straw...) not with a casing mix!

Wow thanks for the correction, I was under the assumption from what I read it just meant sub, wasnt really aware it was talking about nutrient sub... should i just let it colonize completely and just put a light layer over the top? it still has a solid network it seems...

yeah, you wanted to do what you already did w/a bulk substrate, then once it was colonized you add a 1/4" - 1/2" casing layer on top and put into fruiting conditions.
substrate and casing are 2 different things.
1 (substrate) is food
casing is not. its a non-nutritive layer that helps form a micro climate in order to aid in pinning on the surface of your colonized substrate.
the easiest bulk tek around is Damion5050s coir tek. for future referance.
but for what you have now, put it into fruiting conditions and you should get some fruits in a few days. no need to case a casing. cubensis dont need a casing layer to fruit like some other mushrooms do so you can skip the whole casing step once you get the bulk substrate down.
you did things right, just confused casing w/bulk substrate, and try mixing your grains w/your substrate instead of layering next time. to me I have found mixing to be a day or 2 quicker in colonizing due to more inoculation points throughout the mix instead of just in the layers and the myc trying to move up/down through the substrate.
