Tribute to the man, the myth, the legend - the Annovator
    #1440530 - 04/08/03 09:32 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

A lot of this will be a verbatim copy of roadkills post in Mushroom Cultivation, but i've added some of my own feelings as well.

This is very hard to deal with, for a lot of us, it's left us with quite a void.

Anno has retired as an Admin of the Shroomery.
He has some important things to do with his life...so he won't be posting much if anything at all.
He is studying chemical engineering and needs to finish his studies and go out and find a job...basically take care of his needs.

My thanks to Anno go very deep, he has helped me and I will assume many others. From help with my flowhood, to help with culture work, everything he has done has been helpful to me, and the community as a whole, i would say.

The FAQ he put together, mostly...is unsurpassed by anyone.
Helping the other Admin and Mods run this site.
His dedication to this site was incredible...he gave us his all.

Anno was as Roadkill said my mentor...my teacher. Someone I really was inspired by and helped me to dedicate time to hone my skills.
And again as Roadkill said, He is a Master Cultivator...I only hope to be as good as him someday! (Though I doubt this to be possible, his understandings of many things far surpass mine)
I too think I have read every post that he has ever made here.
Every question I have had, he has usually had an answer to, I cannot remember a time he hasn't.
Sometimes his shortness came off as stern, but this helped me develop, and understand that you do not need to elaborate on EVERYTHING. A short concise answer will usually do. Along with these answers, he always adds fact. It was rare that he posted somethign that was assumed. And for this I admire him, not many do that.
I will truely miss him.

As Plato said in the Mod forum:
Quote:
"The Shroomery is poorer by his lack of presence now, and so am I. The only hope I have is that after he finishes his studies and gets a position he will return to visit."

You are welcome to leave a personal thank you to Anno in this thread.
I know a lot of people think highly of him...this is your chance to thank him if you wish.

Please be civil...I will not tolerate any flaming in this thread.
Anyone that is mean or says any hateful things will be dealt with accordingly.

Give the man some Respect! It is well deserved, he practically build the advanced forum. As well as some innovations such as using Tyvek as filter disks, something that has saved me probably hundreds of dollars.

Anno, I salute you and wish you the very best in all your endeavours.

shroomery its self will mean he'll be sorely missed by me.

Not only is Anno an excellent cultivator...I find him to be intelligent in many manners. I have appreciated his mode of communication as well. I find him to be professional and have no doubt of his future success.

Thanks for everything Anno!

To Anno..............Best wishes in the chemical industry,I pray your experience is more positive than my own  :smirk:.If I could be so bold as to offer this advice,Keep two sets of information and make sure the one which is accessable to the employer is incomplete.I have read your words and see the fine mind behind them. You without doubt will do well in your chosen field,Just be sure YOU profit from your inovations.Having several yrs work usurped within a corporate environment is both infuriating and disenheartening.
Thank you for all you have contributed Anno, from an aging Organic chemist,Bon Chance m'frere,Jim(WR)

I am one that is not so easy to give respect, from the time I have first lurked at the shroomery and even to this day...I have seen many intellegent people come through here, many I feel have not even begun to tap into the brilliance that lies inside. I am very happy to see Anno go on to bigger and more rewarding things, but at the same time I feel a great sense of loss as one of the most brilliant minds I have ever seen is to leave us to our own devices. We will all be saddened but this event and hope that you will return for a visit on many occasions, to check our progress and make sure that we have not destroyed the art that you have helped to develop....

Anno...you have earned the respect of myself and I'm sure the rest of this community....you will be missed but you will never be forgotten...you *ARE* what legends are made of.... we all wish you the best.

Much luck in life Anno.
I too have had to stop posting and reading (except rare occasions like this) due to my work, I know how strange it feels when you have 5 min of rest and you have forgotten what you used to do to relax
I have nothing but respect for you.

Anno was a giant?????????????? HA still is just a non admin non posting one. His legacy will be with the shroomery for as long as it lives, the OMC for that matter. I could see him by a landslide victory being voted the best cultivator The Shroomery has ever seen the only ones that could touch his pinky finger being Pf and Hippie.I loved the way he answered newbies ???'s no BS strait forward yes no, here how to do it answers, being a great teacher as well. I would like to see every post he ever made in a giant directory, it would be the greatest tek ever. Alright we are all talkin like hes dead. Good luck with your new career.

Be carefull with them chems buddy. Make us up some new shit bro.

Thank you for everything!

Anno is an incredible asset to this community.  I say 'IS' as the search function keeps him around somewhat
I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly in Italy; he's the real deal people.

I'm very sorry to see you retiring, Anno.  The shroomery is losing one of the best of all time.

Best of luck in CE, I hope you still find a moment to stop in now and then. . .
