Weather or not I use a search engine (which believe me I do) Doesn't mean I don't want real answers from real people that isn't from a thread that's 3 years old and god forbid I post before looking at the date people get angry if you post in a dead thread. Any way I am well on my way I will be posting pics when my jars are fruiting and we will continue from there. I'm more of an Eeyore type myself. I'm kind of haphazardly apathetic.

Other projects such as? I dont really have the space, means, spores or really much else to go crazy with this its more of an experiment than anything too outlandish. When my mom gets her house THEN I'll go crazy. I want to fig out how to do an outdoor bed of azures and morels gotta get some in-depth info there. What if I never got a PC? And what if I never obtained a flow hood or whatever. Could I still advance in this feild?

You can go pretty far in this hobby without a flow hood. You can instead use a still air box and make G2G transfers, make syringes, spore prints, work with agar, slants, etc etc. However working inside of a glovebox can get very very old and tiresome, and building a hood saves a lot of time and money in the end( if used correctly you have less contamination). It took me a year of working inside of a GB before investing $318 (CDN) to build a hood. Best money I have ever spent in this hobby without a doubt.
A Pressure cooker however is MANDATORY if you want to ever move onto grains, and growing edibles on a larger scale. They can be had fairly cheaply if you know where to look, yard sales, craigs list, kijiji, classified adds, etc. Do your research before buying one.
I would also suggest purchasing the follow books:
Mycelium Running by Paul Stamets Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms by Paul Stamets
It all comes down to how thrifty you can be. I personally have around $1000-1500 sunk into my edible grow equipment(2 - 21L PC`s, flow hood, storage racks, assorted supplies, bags, substrates, pots, totes, etc) but now my cost to keep things going is very minimal. When I step up my game in the hobby(microscopes, cameras, more lab supplies, organizational supplies) I can easily see another 3-5K being invested. But do realize that within the next 5 years I plan to start a gourmet mushroom company that will mainly produce shiitake. These small investments now will allow me to focus on the bigger investments later(Warehouse/grow space, building an autoclave, etc etc)
If you only plan to be in this as a hobby $500 can give you all the essentials, everything you need to produce edibles on a small scale, with very minimal upkeep.

I was told you can do grains without a PC via something I cant remember but you par boil your grain 3x over 3 days and that tends to work... IDK my deal is I am a very poor individual.

Don't try to take short cuts on sterile procedure or prep.
PCs are absolutely necessary for anyone wanting to go beyond PF tek.

Fractional Sterilization:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11816366#11816366
Very inconsistent, time consuming and a low percentage of success for species other then oysters(which colonize and fruit very agressivly)
I would highly suggest saving for a pressure cooker, and keeping an eye out for a cheap used one. You can try to get around not owning a PC but I can almost without a doubt guarantee you that it will cause a lot of grief and contamination.
Pressure cookers work, they can be found fairly cheap, and once you own one you can cook up all the grain you want, without worrying about contamination. As well you can use it to sterilize tools, work with agar, sterilize supplemented sawdust blocks, spawn bags, etc etc.
Some people will argue it is not mandatory. IMO if you want success, to learn and grow in this hobby, it is 100% a requirement past PF cakes.

oops, I forgot...I guess a PC isn't 100% necessary, you could get a sterilizer

Get a job ?
Honestly keep an eye on classifieds and craigslist. I got one of my 21L PC's off an online classifieds site for $30. I have the same model I purchased brand new for $130. Most people do not know what they are selling and will give you a hell of a deal for $20-40 dollars. Hell I have even seen people post about buying AA PC's for $20,$50, etc etc.
Start surfing the classifieds and you will be surprised what you find, hell I purchased a $60 dehydrator, brand new, still in the box, with receipt for $15 a few weeks back.

Walmart sells a 23 quart Presto canner for around $90.00. You might have to order it site-to-store because they don't always stock it locally, but if you know what you're doing, it will pay for itself the first time you use it.

Pay for itself literally or in a manner of value. I can agree in value which actually doesn't have any liquid monetary substance. But if you mean this in a literal sense then I would have to go with edibles or do something illegal. Man am I feeling philosophical today or what?

if you live near a chinatown check out their restaurant supply stores. I was in one the other day that also doubles as a hardware store and was checking out their pc selection.
I dunno about durability, but they had some BIG fuckers for like $30-50; stuff that would be going for at least $70 in round-eye stores.
kinda makes me want to buy up all their inventory and sell it on ebay for a pretty penny.
