Possible Contam???

Ok....I woke up this morning to find one of my bulk sub to have this greenish looking stuff in it on the sides. I transferred my corn sub to it on the 24th, all other containers seem to be fine. They still need a few more days then i can begin fruiting but how can i stop this container....help!
Can you tell me what this is??? Will it be ok, can I treat it?

Its hard to tell with the picture, but that looks like some mean green trich. If it spreads then toss it.

Well I threw it out. I opened it in my bathroom to see the top of it and it was green mold on the top as well....will that spread thru my house because of this? I brought it outside and threw it away.

Time to put on your rubber gloves & prep a water+bleach solution & get to cleaning brotha.
When did it contam? did you properly pasteurize your bulk substrate? How about sterile procedure when spawning to bulk?

I look at them every day, and i just noticed it today. So. Yes i pasturized my sub for 90mins at like 170.
I wasnt being to sterile when i moved spawn to bulk cause i thought i didnt have to. I basically sprayed my hands with alcohol, and mixed them together. Had fans and ac turned off.
How do i clean for it, and Do i really have to? even if i took the cover off in the bathroom?

I agree with the others that this is a trichoderma infection.
This is pretty close to what I do, so that's not a horrible procedure. You don't have to be completely sterile when spawning to bulk but you want to be as clean as possible. You might try first washing your hands and your arms up to your elbows with dish soap first, then towel dry with a clean towel and do the alcohol step if you desire...
What type of substrate? How was the cover on that container prepared? What was your spawn type and ratio? Did you layer the grain lasagna style or did you mix it up thoroughly?
I think we can probably give you a list of suggestions to try so that you might have better success next time.

I am using hpoo, I first used tin foil, then switched over to saran wrap, spawn ratio umm i sorta guesstimated, i was using jelly jars, and i would use about 3 jelly jars of colonized corn with about an inch or 2 of the hpoo...but i mixed it up as best as i could.

Sounds like it was your pasteurization tek, really. Or you've got mold in your house already. You need to go through & wipe EVERY surface down w/ a bleach + water mix, vacuum the floors..etc...deep clean that bitch or it's going to continue to keep popping up.
For spawning to bulk I:
(number 1 thing I do for everything myco related...)
turn off air Oust room Shower put on freshly laundered cotton clothing Oust room
wash hand to elbows w/ dish soap (anti-bacterial) Mask my mouth & put on dishwashing gloves OVER the sleeves of my long sleeve shirt Enter room Wipe down all tubs w/ iso Wipe down gloved hands w/ iso Dump the entire bucket of coir+ verm (via Damion5050's tek) in the tub Dump all my spawn in the tub Wipe down gloved hands w/ iso Mix until evenly distributed throughout coir/verm/spawn level off w/ a smooth motion (no patting/compacting) Clean coir/verm/spawn off gloved hands w/ iso Wipe down lid right before putting on the lid, I wipe down the rim of the tub one last time. Seal & set & forget for 14 days...come back to this

To me, this is totally overkill. HOWEVER - you can probably get away with a much lower spawn ratio than I can. I'd rather just be 'mostly' clean and throw another quart of spawn in there, but I'm lazy.

It may be a bit overkill, but Damion5050's tek isn't true & proper pasteurization. Also, I've never had any problems w/ mold in my house & intend on keeping it that way. Once you go green, it takes a long time to go back to clean. I use extremely high spawn ratios too. Most of the time 1:1 or 8 jars to 1 brick of coir (1:1 being 10)

Well it was over 170 for about 90 mins...I accidently made it to hot, can making it to hot cause green mold?

yes, because you're killing off the good microbes that will defend against molds & allow the mycelium to grow throughout your bulk

Yes. The reason to not go over 180*F is because you want the thermophilic (good) bacteria to remain, in order to prevent mold contamination. Mushroom mycelium will overtake and consume the good bacteria.

I like the way the author on this page explains it. Although, don't bother trying the hydrogen peroxide method listed here. It usually has pretty high failure rates.
