Most mainstream music hasn't changed much the last several years. I enjoy some, and don't enjoy a lot, much like any decade of music. Most music out there isn't that good, it's just that mainstream music doesn't play that much good music anymore.

Especially "rap"  I stopped after about '06.  Anything else is just an advertisement, bragging about your drugs, or finding an excuse to use the word, "swagger".

I don't even mind a lot of that. I guess it's because I don't take it seriously, and mainstream has come to a point where it's so bad, that I'm amused by it, unless we're talking about Drake and Lil' Wayne.

I think maybe you'd like this by MGMT too if you haven't heard it before, there's a better fan made video I posted a while ago on here:

MGMT is a great band, I want to get their albums. One of the few bands I'd go out and wait to listen to the non-singles before YouTubin' them.

Has anyone noticed the Pop music in the last 4 years specially in the last 2 years? Pay attention to this and you will know what im saying. They have been repeating words like crazy to make the content of there songs. Take black eye peas for example. half there songs have a word that is said 5 times in a row. most of the artists are following the same trend and so many people listen to that shit?

Heres another thing about pop music. Specially in the last 5 years. They Have been basically taking "house" music and putting words to it. And then when i mention house or trance, people are like you mean "techno, i dont like techno" Im like no, not techno, that is something completely different. I mean house or trance. Then i begin to tell them that all this fucking Pop music that is out is basically HOUSE MUSIC . And you dont like house music? People can be oblivious.

Rap music for the last 4 years has sucked alot. Its been repeating shit and hasnt had very much of anything good. Id say today only 5% of what rap actually comes out is MAYBE worth listening too. Either way The genre of "rap" is almost dead. Thats pretty much underground now. What you hear mostly today is "hip-hop"

Would dub-step even be "in" if it was a originally a mainstream genre?

earl sweatshirt odd future of rap

WTF ever happened to Earl? He just straight up disappeared...

here's a few things I like from the pa[st couple of years, spanning the genres:

Detektivbyran-Amazing, weird, crazy, circusy music...Only way to describe it, but check it out. Not for everyone I guess. Here's them making their second album, has a few bits of songs on it, quality on the album is obviously much better.

Mac Miller is sick, and Freeway reps the 215 (saw him at a stripclub once down on Columbus Blvd. but couldn't get near him)

Tallest Man on Earth is fantastic...gritty voice, beautiful lyrics, and all around a great guy to listen too.

Darwin Deez is sick chilling music

Third..and Second on the other opinion...A lot of people threw away the second album because it was so much different than the first one, almost like a big fuck you to their fans, but in reality it was just them creating music they enjoyed making, not changing to become more popular, which I'm EXTREMELY glad they did.

that rap was sick btw

i thought jay electronica was cool but this dudes rap is like one of those books where you pick the ending.  everything he said in this has a huge meaning on the song, himself and what hes going to write in the future
