BTW I am leaving the cake on the grates because I expect the bottom to turn green (or dancing rainbow color) any day so I am keeping it there even if it bottom pin engulfs the whole shelf, so that I can shine a flashlight under it 40 times a day wile staring at it like a monkey looking under the hood of a car.
I have a tray that I crumbled a bunch of cakes in and mixed it with coir/verm in a garbage bag, I think I will bury that with the super crappy giant casserole dish cake, plus 3 quarts that didnt recover after shake because of moisture and some MS rye pints> One pint turned green already
How should I go about getting rid of the jar with the green? Take some lysol, unscrew, ditch lid, spray with lysol, empty out, run away screaming supernatural extraterrestrial?

yup...I say in my tek "I bet your lid will wear out before the filter"
I've been using the same filters for a long time. Some exposed to bacteria...never mold though. I stay the fuck away from that shit.
I'd recommend cleaning your entire house now...btw, just to get rid of that shit...Next time you try BRF cakes that large make sure to just make an inoculation port(s) in the lid w/ SFDs or inoculate it in your SAB/GB...

I was thinking about trying to get some whole grain BR to the right cap to add to a sub, for fun.
Anyone ever PC BR?
I bet an 2-3 hour soak would be good or too long maybe?

havin' fun messin' w/ your sig?
Sterile substrate is dangerous. You've already had an outbreak of mold. I wouldn't recommend it. When you sterilize substrate vs. pasteurizing it, you're taking away all the good stuff that fights contams during bulk colonization; pasteurization does NOT do remove the good contam fighting microbes, which allows for colonization of the substrate by mycelium vs. mold.

I miss typed that I meant for the spawn, and then just use coir/verm for the sub. No PC needed for sub

Grains are better for bulk. BRF is to be fruited AS IS...

Is there a grain that you could boil for hours and hours and have it the right moisture content to go into jars? Like some sort of hard shelled seed that wouldn't soften easily? Maybe hemp seed, morning glory, poppy? I am gonna go to the health food store and buy seeds and just boil them for hours for fun.

no...I'm sorry, but it's not going to work...you can try, but you're getting an "I told you so" when it fails...
why are you fixated on boiling your grains for an extended amount of time? What happened to your PC?

Nothing, I was just going to find a grain that would withstand hours of boiling and steaming so I could make a bulk tek that worked well with no PC and make all the noobs aren't allowed to do bulk haha people pissed off.

The only problem w/ that is that as soon as you extracted your grain from boiling water it would be laden w/ contams, so would the jar that was sitting there for who knows how long waiting to be used & the lid.
Also, grain is easier than BRF IMHO. It just requires a PC & one additional step of spawning to bulk, which Damion5050 made as fool proof as you can w/ his Simple tek.

 It'll never work!
Just kidding but probably true. I don't really use a tech for pasteurization. I just mix shit up and voila. It takes longer my way but I never let the water itself go over 170.

Damion5050's tek isn't proper pasteurization either, but it works because of the medium...coir & verm both are extremely resistant to contams & are packaged sterile...unless you're a dumbass & buy coir injected w/ trich...

4" is ideal for substrate depth.
Cased grains will work, but will not produce as large of a yield as spawned to bulk grains.
