Is it time to remove all distraction from reality?

I've started to think that a lot of my troubles are caused ultimately by me constantly distracting myself from dealing with them. I use drugs and xbox.
Is it time I get rid of all the distractions?
I spose I should learn enough self-control to have the balance of both but I'm not sure if I can given my track record so far. My dads exactly the same so I spose I learnt it from him. We havn't seen each other in years - only because we can distract ourselves instead of facing up to it.
Maybe this is a bit heavy for the pub. I dunno, sure there will be some insight here though.

If I remove my distractions, the wall then becomes distracting and I will spend an equivalent amount of time doing nothing as before.

It comes down to you can do whatever you want. I know I would be healthier if fasted more, drank less, and watched fewer movies. But I also read, exercise, and try to eat right. Balance isn't hard you just can't start everything at once. Add one or two items to your daily schedule, get comfortable with them, then slowly add more. You have to look at it like a game. It's not winning or losing, but having a good time while you're at it and performing with some style.

Your post is very vague. What problems are you talking about? I like to play guitar and video games too, but I'm happy doing it - don't really feel like it distracts from anything.

Yeah it helps. I recently cut out some of my biggest distractions and now I spend more time creating and doing what I need to do. I procrastinate a lot and am really good at talking myself into being bad but once you put forth some initial effort the snowball effect happens and life starts getting magical and inspiring while living your true purpose.

The majority of my problems are that I don't socialise, go out enough, see my family enough etc
Yet I have all these things to keep me from not thinking about that - like getting high and playing xbox all night instead.
I should be able to do both but it hasn't worked for me so far. I'm starting to think I need to just remove all this shit and do the complete opposite and get out there.
I mean 1000 years ago I would of been interacting with my family and friends. We must still have these basic needs to be healthy. I'm realising I can't control it so maybe I need to force it to happen. If I remove all this shit I will get bored and go out - I already do if I have enough of it... but if theres enough pot and new games I'll just stay in and do fuck all with myself. Its causing my social and physical health to deteriorate. I spose I'm a computer and drug addict at the core of the matter.

Lol I'm pretty sure I'd be out doing better things with myself or at least meditating as opposed to staring at a wall.
Its a shame I have so little self control as to not do it anyway but I'm coming to realise that even when I do break free I just fall back into the loop one day because a new game comes out or some new weed comes in and its like I'm back at square 1 again every time.

Why are those things problems? Because society tells you they are? IMO, as long as you're happy...

Right I'm looking at my wall and theres a big sign in my own writing saying "sell your 360". I forgot it was even there yet its right above the computer screen Now I realise I am actually insane.

This brings us to the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result
Its hard to look in the mirror and really see whats there but I better fucking start.

I'm not happy. I'm not satisfied. I'm temporarily amused by my distractions.
