first time ever tonight, my monitor started turning off and on at random.
sometimes it turns the monitor off completely (turning the green, everything is cool light, to orange, i'm not being used light) it seems almost like the screen saver is coming on? but wiggling the mouse and stuff isnt working to keep it on.
i just tried turning the f.lux program off... and it hasnt turned back off yet.. but
monitor on and off randomly, anyone experience this before?
no idea why this would occur myself. read online (briefly becasue the screen wasnt cooperating AT ALL) that it might be a power thing... i was wiggling some cords with my foot while on the phone but... all the connections are fine.
no problems since i turned f.lux off.. does anyone know monitor trouble and f.lux to go hand in hand?
maybe i just to need to buy a new monitor?
thanks guys

I do now.
Another possible culprit may be drivers or software power saver options (they always seem to fuck shit up). Good luck with melatonin production.

Check your monitor cables. Maybe a bad connection. Try a different one if possible. Update all your drivers, specifically video card Turn off windows power saving options http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63567-power-options-sleep-mode-problems.html

wow, strangely enough wiggling the POWER cable that goes directly into the monitor seems to have fixed it. 40 minutes not a single flash. very strange considering the monitor didnt lose power completely once.. just did the same as hibernation/sleep mode does.
weird. well its fixed anyhow.
should i delete the thread or leave it open incase someone experiences the same?

It's your thread.. leave it open if you want I work tech support for computer crap... Rule1: Always check the most basic stuff first. Connections, is it plugged into the wall? etc etc. Sometimes people get mad at me when I ask them the basic questions... then they slap themselves when I was right.
As just a fun anecdote..... I had a guy today I was helping troubleshoot his video card problem. After about 10 minutes of him explaining crap, I asked him if he tried removing and reseating the card to ensure a good solid connection with the PCI-e slot He got all pissy at me saying "I'm a tech blah blah blah I've been working with computers since before you were born probably (get that a lot), what do you take me for some kind of fucking idiot?? He went on like that for a few minutes.. all super pissed off, being all condescending and arrogant with me.
Ten minutes later after trying a bunch of other things, I finally convinced him to just turn it off and try reseating it. Bam, fixed the problem. He didn't have it sitting in the slot correctly. He sure felt like an asshole

hahaha
i built this computer myself so when something hapens i get incredibly nervous thinking maybe i fucked up somehow.
i am incredibly impressed with how i've yet to have a single issue, touch wood.
besides this lousy connection on the monitor.
well, heres a somewhat humorous "problem" i had while buildint it.
i had everything all plugged in and couldnt figure out how come the monitor wasnt working for over a day.
the next day i realized i hadnt plugged the monitor into the adapter to my video card
heh.
i guess the morale of the story is to not rush and think everythings fucked and to just check it out a little bit.. its probably not as broke as you think.

The power supply module in your monitor may either be suffering from a bad solder joint, or it's in the process of dying.

i been wondering about the life of this monitor for a long time now... sometimse i see like real strange lines in the screen where there is white or other light colors.
but like i said i was playing with the cord with my foot and i think i shook it loose.
ever since i plugged it in good, no problems at all, not even the lines.
guess its just something i need to take better care of
