Wizard of Oz / Dark Side of the Moon
    #1437234 - 04/07/03 06:52 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

This has been buggin me for the longest time. Was the synchonicity of these two completely by accident or on purpose? I've heard Pink Floyd denied they did it purposely, but I've also heard the opposite. It's hard to imagine this happened completely by accident but it's also hard to imagine Pink Floyd sitting in the studio watching the Wizard of the Oz video over and over making sure they got each song to sync so perfectly. So which is it?

The world may never know.... Have you ever listened to "Echoes" and watched  "Space Odyssey 2001"? ( I think that's what its called, it's a space movie from back in the day ) There's a part of the movie when he's flying past all these colors & shapes and "Echoes" matches up really good with it. It's pretty crazy that things can work out like that.

it IS a coincidence.. remember at the time DSOTM came out, it was only available on vinyl... can you watch dark side of the rainbow with only a vinyl? turn it around and start over in 0.0 seconds?

I remember reading somewhere, perhaps I'll be able to locate it, but the Echos and 2001 thing was actually done intentionally. The DVD is cut to it as well, start the song with the begining of the last chapter on the dvd, syncs perfectly.

a theatre in my city played wizard of oz on the big screen with the sound off and played dark side in surround sound. it was pretty bad ass to watch it that way.

Some one told me that the original vinyl version had 2 extra songs that were not released for very long, and never put on the CD and that is what you need to di Oz right... I don't know if i believe this or not but...

So if she dies
And if you write of it
Being a writer and shit
Dulling it so you sleep again at night,
Alone or telling it to whores
Their minds are dull
But oh their cunts are in the proper place
You pay them but sometimes they like it too
And feel your wounds more eagerly than they feel you,

They did that here too for a film festival. Was mind blowing. I made sure to dose before going in and was sure worth it.

haha:)
Echoes Beyond the Infinite could have been done intentionally, but I'd be more likely to believe it if Kubrick made Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite to match Echoes. (He did ask to use Atom Heart Mother for Clockwork Orange Soundtrack, but the Floyd wouldn't let him). But then again, 2001 is 3 years older than echoes.

In the new Rolling Stone, they sync up DSOTM with the movies "Titanic", "The Matrix", "Apollo 13" and "Goodfellas".

Guffaw.
