NZ Psilocybe ID Request
    #14396309 - 05/03/11 07:35 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat:
Same woodchip area where Psilocybe subaeruginosa and Psilocybe weraroa are fruiting.  Initially mistaken for a really small P. sub until closer inspection.

Gills:
Cream/gold gills with what looks like small dark spore buildup, attached.

Stem:
50mm long, Transparent-ish gold, with the top 1/4 going a lot more distinct white with light blue staining on the uppermost of the stem. Very very delicate.

Cap:
15mm, gold/caramel with blue/green staining, typical looking Psilocybe cap with very visible gill lines from the top of the cap.  As you can see in the picture, nipple present.

I also found what I believe to be a blue mycena the other day, it was found growing in a pine forest, virtually no other fungi around but this sole mushroom while enjoying the bush for a few hours on an acid trip.  I don't have it any longer, but took some photos out of interest.  Very hollow stem, frail velvety cap and rather than blue staining, it appeared the whole thing just went a deeper shade of blue after picking.

1 looks like a sub to me with odd coloring on the stem that has happened to me many a time. But I could be wrong

That bottom one looks like 100% psilocybe to me, the toothed gills look like many of inski's finds. He's the one to ask.

You remember where you found it?

I was almost certain it wasn't.  Yes the woods are close to my house, I was tripping balls when I found it and tried my best to remember the exact location!

The garden I collected the small Psilocybe in the first pictures on this thread, has always had very potent specimens, although they are usually very low yielding compared to almost every other patch I have found.  I'm now certain my first trip of 2010 was on these little guys, a friend and I shared 5 just the slightest bit bigger than this, and a 2-3 small P. weraroa, totalling 7gms each.  It verged into a level 4 trip, I just assumed they were small P. subaeruginosa but now am certain they are something else.

This was the small handful I got from that spot today, all within 3 meters of each other, with the weraroa and unknown mushrooms all growing under a low lying shrub that can be lifted up around the sides.

Interesting. I always thought they were bright blue. I wonder how many of them have been eaten accidentally, it's a recipe for trouble!

Fresh young specimens are brilliant blue, as they age they fade to pale blue then greenish-blue with an ochraceous apex.

Thanks inski

There were plenty more, I will go back over the next few days and get some habitat shots and pick some better examples.  I can find virtually no information on these (obviously), would they be producing spores in your experience?
