Well I'll be damned. Hell I haven't even seen any velutina yet. I might walk around to some known spots today.

Well I went on a hike today and did find one more Weilii but thats it...
Older and prolly fruited about the same time as the other 4 but should start fruiting a little more prevalent soon.

Found lots and lots of psatherela though so this should be a pretty good spring for weilii, in my experience when they are so prevalent the weilii tend to be as well.

The fungus is really starting to pop up everywhere, Found lots of fresh young puff balls
Anyone know what these are? I see so many of them I just want to know what they are, Pluteus?

Found a new cluster today, prolly 7 or 8 fat pins. Finally a decent sign of substantial fruiting. Ill post more pics tomorrow

Found a few yesterday . I predict a very active spring / fall.. Also seeing TONS of velutina so that's a good sign. (Also the few I found were lawn variety).

Went to my Atlantis patch today and found a couple! As well as a few more Weilii. Didn't have my camera but i picked the 2 Atlantis I found, ill post a few pics once my camera charges. I found a bunch of Atlantis pins in one spot, I'm going back tomorrow to pick them so i can snap some habitat shots. Weilii I found today were all fat pins so I'll go back and pick them in a day or so.

My hunting partner found a small cluster of matures 2 days ago in one of our spots that is mainly clay, pinestraw and other debris. Our grass patches have not shown any signs of growth since the monstrous Fall 09 season where we were only limited by the time we had to go get them.

Last year was a tragedy! This spring fruiting has got my shroom senses tingling. Heading out tomorrow with "mini me" to check my spots. I've been so busy lately I haven't been able to check the site but HOT DAMN!! My spots in 09 produced pounds for me, I've yet to post pics but I will soon cuz i've found some as beautiful as the ones that dickenz has pics of, and my ex and I in 09 found a clust as big as a basketball right next to a playground at a park. One of my first finds in 08 was in mulch at a local church that's next to te highschool I went to lmao I was so amused, HOLY SHROOMS, it was only a clust of 6 but try were gorgeous, pale white fat stalks dark blue caps. Dickenz and Phishhead, I've kept up with your posts the past few years, I consider you two and myself the top 3 contenders on this thread, let's see some beautys this year guys! I live in gwinnett and often travel to hall and Gainesville. Happy hunting guys, I'd love to talk about past trips and the love of the fungus just hit me up.

Hahaha man i live in gwinnett as well, and one of my best producing spots in 09 was just my back yard. This year i have a nice camerea as well so youll probably see alot more of me especially since i've been looking nonstop for the past couple of weeks for good habitats for woodland weilii's. No luck so far but im not letting it discourage me man, good luck and happy hunting

Man I dont know anymore..I moved away to West Virginia for a bit and picked some ovoids..I moved back to Ga..in Gainseville now..and just found out theres weilii around here..I picked cinctulus last summer..and now starting this spring Im on the weilii hunt..but Im trying the Pine Beetle theory versus finding them in business parks and dont know how much success Im gonna have.Guess we'll see what happens. Just glad to be back in red clay country! I sure missed the smell of pines needles after a rain!
Everyone!

This is 3 days apart. shows how much bigger they can get if you don't pick the pins. One aborted but this one was a fatty.

I'm loving this rain. Yea nice phishhead, you guys have never tried growing em after you've found them? Try it! I've found cluster of small pins, dug the dirt out afew inches and took them unpicked with the dirt and put the dirt in a bowl with the Shrooms still in it, put that bowl in a bigger bowl with some water in it, then took a huge dark popcorn bowl and put it over them. And did this outside and kept them in the stun, so the heat made the water in the bowl evaporate and caused humidity in the bowls making the Shrooms grow pretty ast. Try it, made them grow alil differently too.
