Mono tub recovery?

Good morning everyone!! I have a question about a mono tub that's giving afoaf some problems. It's a 67 qt.1 coir brick,1 qt.verm,1 qt.coffee,1 gallon of tap water, spawned with 6 pds.of rye grain knocked up with a treasure coast m.s.syringe. At first pinning was sporadic, slow and they wouldn't mature so It was dunked for 4 hrs. Within a week it had a full beautiful pin-set but only half matured and the other of course aborted. The question is will the sub recover and re-pin after harvesting the aborts, due to the fact that they are more than likely to pull the top layer up and scar it pretty bad? This is his first mono tub and he is quite inexperienced. He knows they have several flushes if conditions are favorable and if contams haven't got a hold on it but doesn't quite understand the recovery process. Thanks everyone for your time, knowledge and kindness.

aborts usually come off pretty easy.
maybe not if your entire substrate is covered with a mass of fluffy mushroom stipe.
but then you need more FAE
the whole big fruits seem to be more connected to the substrate
but you can either cut them off with a razor or sharp scissors

it should re-pin, but picking the aborts won't "help" it. It should pin whether you pick them or not. Your scenario with tearing it up when picking the pins only seems to be true if it were badly overlayed. JMO, I'm not the leading expert

The aborts are part of one huge cluster mat. That's why I'm asking about recovery, I think when there harvested it's really going to pull alot of the sub up.

well, thge part you tear-up is not going to recover in time for the next pin-set. It would have to heal a good week before it would even think of pinning in that spot

The thing is it needs to be dunked again and the aborts are starting to blacken and they are taking up all the space, And it seems unlikely that new pins will come up on top of the dead ones. I guess he'll try to harvest very carefully and re-dunk. Hopefully it will turn out OK. Thanks all.

Dunk a tub for 24 hrs!! I don't think so, it's not a cake, 4 hours would be sufficient. And tweezers on pins, there not that small and like I said there comprised within a dense mycelial mat. That would be like using a shovel, LOL!! Any way he just cut them with a knife and got 298 g's of aborts and small boomer's, wet of course, and that was not even a quarter of the tub. CRAZY!! And the tub seems wet enough so no dunking today. Thanks everyone for the help!!
