Listen I am glad hes dead and thats what he deserves. For someone that dedicates his life to death its fitting. But the way it was carried out was simply not what this country is SUPPOSED to be about thats all.
To be honest. That doesnt say much. This country does what it wants and walks all over whoever it wants for all to see. This country is failing so fast its not even funny. With that said its no surprise in how we did what we did.
But in the end (one more time) its not the way this country is supposed to handle something like this. Saddam got his trial. A person who killed soooo many more people.

Saddam also ruled through brute force - which had been taken away from him - not through charisma or manipulation of Islamic dogma like Osama. Considering Osama was able to talk people into flying jets into skyscrapers, it seems a mite suicidal to give him the pedestal of a public trial.

We are such a selfish bunch. Yes he killed some of ours. And his track record is one of someone that does not need to be on this rock. But it truly says something about our culture when we celebrate the killing of one man that somehow justifies a war that has killed so man.
It doesnt make sense and its really sad

It still does not change the fact that this country was founded on certain things. And handle ourselves in a certain way.

It's wrong to celebrate anyone's death. We should be moving on and thinking about how tomorrow will be different without Osama to worry about.

Throughout its entire history the USA has always broken its own rules when key decision-makers have deemed it necessary. I don't disagree with this call at all.

I just don't see how a trial means justice. Just because someone says "you're guilty"...THEN it's fine to shoot them in the face?
In Saddam's case, how did his trial affect the outcome? Everybody already knew what he had done, and they killed him. We just cut out one of the unnecessary steps.

well YOU think we made asses of ourselves... Besides we aren't really CELEBRATING his death. it's not like we have a national osama bin laden is dead day (perhaps we should....)
I am happy that he is no longer able to kill innocent people and infect the minds of many more. He was a terrible, evil, destructive man who got everything he deserved.

IMO America is too squeamish about assassination.
Which do you think is better - surgically removing a terrible dictator with a single shot, or wading through the blood and entrails of his people to storm his keep with an invading army? To give him a "fair trial?"

People should have the right to a fair trial.
I mean no one is even certain he even orchestrated 9/11. He may have taken responsibility for it and that makes him an idiot.
But why do what we did the way we did it seems very sketchy. I think for me one of the major things is transparency. I can handle an assignation. but be honest about it to youre people. Let everyone know exactly what happened.

We might have that Osama is a faggot day if these people had their way.

but some people believe in a fair trial for various reasons. For example take an american solider, we have "squads" that to a foreign country could very well be considered a "terrorist cell". Would u want one of our seal team members shot and killed without a trial for killing osama? Or another spin, i haven't looking into it but we went after osama because of a "video" after 9/11 right? The problem is you can't really prove it was osama, just like the photo of his death. So why did we kill him? I believe everyone was cheering of his death because they thought he did 9/11. But thats what trials are for, so u can defend it, or admit to it in front of your peers.
Additionally, even if it was shown that he had, there's lots of things that could make him a lesser evil and enlighten the public to certain things. For example, back to the seal scenario they were given an order, what if osama was given an order as well, from a very large country. That would be some important information, that would make him a solider not a terrorist, or maybe he would admit he did it for allah but either way it needed to be said by him in front of a judge.
Lastly, i believe there is something in the consituation about it being our right to overthrow our own government, hence the right to bear arms ect. Well now in these modern days your going to most likely be considered a terrorist, now wouldn't u like to have your trial to prove otherwise? Or just shot in the head at night while sleeping with the wifey and then dumped at sea? Oh and you most likely won't be on tv, or the newspaper, other than the missing section.

I was hella glad they killed him. Capturing him alive and giving him a trial would be too good for him, give him a quick death and be done with it. Screw torturing him there they needed to do it fast and get out because who knows what could happen at any second there. In this crazy world of lawyers, appeals, court run-arounds and anti-death penalty people, a bullet to his head was the only solution that would please america as a whole.

Osama voluntarily took credit for 9/11, and has huge numbers of zealous supporters who are willing to die for the twisted religion he preaches.
If we had taken him prisoner and put him on trial, it would have invigorated his followers while giving him a megaphone through which to spew his ideological bile. It would have been a long, painful disaster, costing many lives. So instead, we decided to just shoot him right there and dump his body in the ocean, demoralizing his followers in one fell swoop.
It's kind of like nuking Japan... there's no doubt it was a horrible thing to do, but we did it to force a surrender in a war that otherwise would have lasted years and cost many more millions of lives.
Sometimes the only choice you have is between two nightmares, so you've got to think in purely practical terms about which nightmare is worse.

I wasn't comparing Osama to WWII, I was just using it as an illustration that sometimes you have a choice between shit and shit, so pick the shit of the guy who eats lots of fiber over the shit of the guy who eats lots of seafood...
