Has the whole world gone mad?! Pub poll reality check. 6

Well as most of us probably heard, Osama Bin Laden has been killed. There have been many threads on it but I want to discuss one particular aspect of it here.
You see on the news imagery of thousands of people cheering in the streets, basically celebrating a man's death.
You get Obama stating that "America is reminded that it has much to be proud of and what it can achieve independent of party politics"

They send a bunch of Navy Seals to a mans house, perform a raid, the Seals OWN that situation, and instead of arresting this high profile criminal to face Justice they stone cold assassinate him, entirely premeditaded, take his body and with use of Navy vessels dump his body in the middle of the ocean in violation of the man's religious codes of proper burial (you cant toss a muslim in the ocean) And all this.. With Obama and his staff looking on live through the KillerCams in the Navy Seals helmets.
UN Security Council meets, and state they are "happy about what has happened".
Has the whole world gone mad? Osama Bin Laden allegedly did terrible things but this was a political assassination with dumping of the body, entirely premeditated extrajudicial killing with Obama looking on and the US Military on alert to not just see the assassination through but also get rid of the corpse. He should have been arrested and put on trial for all the world to see. THAT is justice, this is a gangland style killing courtesy of the US Government.
And where is the public release cam footage of all this going down? Its unamerican not to present that kind of stuff as trophies to the world if its something to be so damn proud of. Where is the evidence presented to the public?
No! I do not rejoyce the illegal assassination of an alleged criminal, in this case an alleged mass murderer. I find it ghoulish that the whole world is having a party over this guys death and especially that this killing is in complete violation of any sense of due legal process, with the masses condoning this coldblooded lynching with their cheer.
Bad vibes
How do you feel about it?

He fired at them.
You don't shoot at cops (navy seals, same principle), they will fire back at you.
If he had put his hands on his head and surrendered we would've gladly taken him into custody.
There was a bounty on him after all.
Edit - all that being said, if anything death was the easy way out for him. It's better than celebrating the capturing and torturing of a person.

The world may be better of without him.
What's scary is the nationalistic chanting of "USA! We got him!" As if our team were winning. As if this all is a game.
Which it is. But we should take it more seriously. Or less seriously?
What was I talking about again?

Obama and his staff watched this raid and assassination go down live on screen, and dry eyed at that as people got their shit shot op on their orders. I couldnt do that, personally.
The Military was completely ready to take the corpse out of there and ditch it into the ocean. There never was a plan to arrest him.
My guess is that they didnt want him on trial because what he might have to say that could potentially embarrass the US Government. What if his defense could prove some allegations had been false? Or CIA involvement in training him and his group before they became terrorists? This is not to prervent the martyr effect, this is the US Gov't clandestinely cleaning up their own mess and passing it off as a military victory to be proud of.

I don't think they could've gotten him alive even if they wanted to...
And wasn't his involvment self-confessed? I don't think he was wanted for a freakin' trial, he was wanted for punishment, so what's the big deal?
Dumping him at sea is lolzy, and so is that the muslim faith doesn't allow it, with all the desert around them parts it's not hard to figure out why
It's a publicity stunt, USA didn't win jackshit, they just killed a man, maybe born a martyr, while his legacy lives on and terrorism won't go away for some time.

Well over here its all over the news media. You'll have to translate this one from Dutch:
"President Obama watched live the elimination of Osama Bin Laden"
Heres a picture of them doing it:

Quick translation of the headline:
Quote:
President Obama heeft live meegekeken naar de eliminatie van Osama bin Laden. Samen met zijn regeringsleden en veiligheidsteam volgde hij 'Operatie Germonimo' in de 'Situation Room' van het Witte Huis'.
Quote:
President Obama watched live the elimination of Osama Bin Laden. Together with members of government and his security team he followed "Operation Geronimo" in the Situation Room of the White House.
Voila.

their primary objective was to capture, if capture was of to great a risk then elimination was in play. there was a contingency plan already in place for the latter
while I would love to have seen Osama on trial, I could give a rat's ass as to whether he's alive or dead, though putting him on trial would have cost us plenty of rat's asses

Same happened w/Saddam a few years ago. Caught and hanged w/no right to trial. If he had been judged and sentenced to death he should have been killed by shooting since he was a military man, and this is all IF of course.
I don't like dictators or terrorists but occidental countries behaving as such doesn't make them any better than them.
Wiccan_Seeker, there's so much we can speculate on this... we know Bin Laden was a product of CIA, as far as I know the States might even have hired him to take the blame for 9/11 events, I find it very hard to believe that this attack didn't come from the inside. After reading about some CIA ops I was like

Personally this makes me sick. It doesn't matter who he was or what he did. Taking that kind of joy from the killing of another human being goes against everything we should be for The more I see it the more I realize humanity is a lost cause

Well I already assumed theres a rats nest of crooks inside the US Gov't but the most distasteful thing to me is the cheer from the general public. Bleh. It's a lynching.
To invoke Godwin's Law I would have personally shot Hitler in the 1930s if given the chance, knowing whats known now, but I would NOT cheer his death. It would be preventing a bigger Evil with a lesser Evil, but it would still be an Evil. I'd still be a murderer with blood on my hand and a karma bill to pay.

i really doubt that is what is going on in that picture, and its a bunch of media hyped up journalism.
things as large as submarines operate "without orders" as in they are given an objective by a "higher up" in the military and then let loose to complete the objective.
a squad of seals is definitely not going to be exempt from this kind of operation.
heres a caption for the same image from a different news source.
Quote:
In this image released by the White House and digitally altered by the source to diffuse the paper in front of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, along with with members of the national security team, receive an update on the mission against Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room of the White House, Sunday, May 1, 2011, in Washington. (AP Photo/The White House, Pete Souza)
it was likely a brief from a high up in the military telling them what occurred after the fact that it happened.
if certain submarines operate without the president knowing what they are doing, i wouldnt put it past a SEAL team to be on equal or higher "hush-hush" status.
the president is not a very integral part of the military, despite what a lot of people may think. he may authorize some things. but he doesnt authorize everything. a lot of shit happens and then he is told about it. as i would believe the case is in this image.

It doesn't matter. What he said is essentially the same thing. The essence of the message is the same

True but essentially the same thing:
Quote:
1. "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. ... The chain reaction of evil—hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars—must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation." -Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love
2. "Do not rejoice when your enemies fall, and do not let your heart be glad when they stumble." -Proverbs 24:17
