Yeah it's true, I'm pretty sure meditation is more effective for relaxation than ANY drug. You don't even develop a tolerance, you just get better at it.

It's tough to be consistent since there's no pleasure involved in meditation, but it really improves things.
I need to start again. I practiced daily for a long time and it became a simple matter to just switch-off whenever I felt it was appropriate. Certainly can't do that anymore.

Is it beneficial or required to keep a consistent practice at a relatively similar time each day? I've been reading this book 8 Minute Meditation which is basically an extremely simple guide through an 8 week program that allows a newb to try out different techniques, one per week, while explaining in simple terms and analogies what meditation is in its simplest form without any hooplah or religion involved. Straight up meditation practice. Anyway I never meditate at the same time each day. Sometimes it will be at night, early or late, other times it will be in the morning after I wake or rarely, in midday. I really enjoyed and reaped the most benefits out of morning meditation but is it really important to meditate around the same time each day. Is it just to develop a consistent habit or is there more to it?

as far as i know it's not important to meditate the same time each day, sometimes i do it in the morning and some times at night which helps me sleep.
it's definitely more important to do it every day though and would just worry about that.
