55 gal drum sterilizer in garage??

Here's the deal. I have to build something that can sterilize / super-pasteurize sawdust blocks. I live in a residential area and I don't think my neighbors would like to see/hear a big steaming, hissing oil drum in my back yard.
I would like to put something in my garage that is safe. I don't want to run a burner that is going to consume all the oxygen in the garage and be a fire hazard. Is there an electric solution? I see a few options.
1. Some sort of heating element inside or wrapped around drum 2. A steam generator designed for saunas (overkill?) 3. Wagner power steamer thing (insufficient?)
Maybe there is someone who has had to construct a similar setup who can offer some insight.

they work. top load works MUCH quicker. imho. make sure you cover it with a blanket or sleeping bag, real insulation etc. for insulation. And if you get the right type of top.. a regular garden hose end will screw right into one of the holes. bonus round !

Here's mine.
I wouldn't put a gas fired unit like mine indoors in a garage. You're also going to be spilling a lot of water, so hopefully you have a floor drain or a slope to the big door. RR

Yeah I really want it to be electric. Does anyone know if a steam generator is a reasonable solution? I see they make models ranging from 4kw - 10kw. They are several hundred dollars. Couldn't one of these devices be connected to a drum or is that an expensive solution to a simple problem?

those both are some really cool ideas! i was thinking more along the lines of a 55gal Fermenter! lol how would one clean it good enough to do something like that? if inoculated at standard 10% it would only have to stay free of contams for 9 days.
