Great finds and cool pics.
Here are some of mine but sorry for the pic quality/thoughtfulness.
Click to highlight if you wish.

Here are some that I mailed off to members who are trying to cultivate morels.
It's been such a rewarding year in central Ill and I'm already looking forward to next spring. :lol:

too many photos of morels ripped up and soil still on the stem...

if not for the morels sake, when you collect a mushroom it should have as little dirt on it as possible.

5/17:

111 Total = ~3 pounds

:headbanger::headbanger::headbanger:

I went hunting at dusk, and after about an hour and 45 minutes, I came out with this awesome first haul of the season. The irony of it all...I randomly spotted a Galerina sp. (I believe) which was growing out of the host tree, and the morels just happened to be in my field of vision. I had already walked through the area earlier in the day and saw nothing. I believe the late day light helped with contrast and allowed me to see them better.

Why did I go out again so late, you ask...because I lost my cigarettes! :lmafo: (Never found those, btw. I did find an almost new looking 100w HPS bulb, though :what::idea:)

Nice haul man.
I too find that the light has a profound ability to help or hinder my morel hunting.
I've never gone after dark like you :lol: but early morning light has been a big help to me.
Again, nice finds. :thumbup:

Everyone please remember to use a knife when harvesting. It is possible that pulling up the 'roots' with the mushroom can damage the colony.
