Mycelium colonization question

About to get started with my supplies for my shotgun terrarium and have one final curiosity..I'm debating between doing my colonization at just room temperature or putting my room heater in with them, so how much of a difference would there be regarding colonization times with just heat differences? Room temp would be from 63-75 degrees and im also nearing summertime so possibly better without the heater and if i used it what would be the best temperature for it?

room temp will be fine, but 75-78 is optimal for colinization

I had mine at 20c and at 32c I found that it grew WAY faster at 32c.

those temps will work, but low 60's will be real slow. also possibly longer germination times. higher temps like 78-82 faster growth but gives contamination more favorable growing conditions.

Honestly, heaters are not needed for incubation (colonization) of the culture, but is recommend when ambient temperatures reach 50 degrees F. If the temperature in the air called the ambient temperature is 78F it will be almost perfect to colonize your culture making it a quick, painless, and contaminate free incubation process. Good luck.

well it seams almost everyone on this site has had better luck with high temps. also, almost all cultivating literature says to have high temps. Sure it CAN grow at lower temps, but why wait a month when it could be done in less then 2 weeks?

78 is as high as you should go, 82 is on the edge of starting to hinder growth and promote growth of mold + bacteria
