Success With Monotub

I just wanted to show how my first monotub is doing. I think it looks pretty good for a first attempt at using coir, verm and colonized grain. I usually just case grain, but wanted to give this a try. What do you all think?

Looking good. Once you go mono, you don't go back.
What do you mean you usually case grain? Spawning grain to more grain then fruiting grain?
Easiest grow in the world is a monotub with 100% coco coir and 6 quarts of spawn o choice.

They will bulk up during the second flush. At least they do when I case the grain.

I usually take my colonized grain and just like I said, I put it in pans and case it with a 50/50 ph balanced mix.

I like to polyfill the holes in the side for better air flow.
Is that tape or something else on the holes?
Also i set a nice big box fan next to the mono and let it run 24/7 for a nice breeze

I fan them once a day. It does not bother me that they are long and skinny. I hear no complaints from my buddies.

Are you really serious? It does not seem to affect the potency or overall health, so why would I complain. Like I said, this is my first monotub, so yeah, I am satisfied. If I was really serious about FAE, I would cut out a hole in the tub and install a P C fan with a filter and time it to come on every hour or so. But I am happy with my results.

you don't need to filter the air inside your fruiting chamber.
many shroomerites place their fruiting chamber out side when the weather permits.
fresh air, not filters, are the best defense against the contamination of a 100% colonized substrate

I'm sure they are good. They could be better. Maybe take the tape off? Halfway, maybe?
Or not. If you're happy, that's what matters.

I will keep that in mind. So, should I remove the micropore tape from some of the holes?

if you want more FAE
micropore tape allows for GE (gas exchange) and is useful as the filter in your grain jars.
not so much in your monotub.
in fact, the only reason people put polfyil into their holes is to help keep up humidity.
absolutely no "filtering" goes on during the fruiting stage.

Take off the duct take & fill the holes w/ loose polyfil. I don't fan or mist my tubs.

but you don't want a large fan. You want a small fan just circulating air. Don't point it directly @ or next to the tubs....

be aware you may have to mist more often now that you are allowing for a lot more fresh air exchange.

well since i already sound like a total dick on this thread, and since you asked.
you could do with a bright 6500k "cool daylight" CFL bulb, 12/12 cycle is standard
and the closer to your subsrate you can get the light the better.
this will help those caps grow to their full potential. nice big and meaty MMMMMMMMMMMM
