Jars inoculated too long or exposed to very little indirect light
    #14387562 - 05/02/11 09:22 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I colonized some jars awhile back in a TiT setup with the outer tub totally opaque.  I had to move the setup to an area with some light, not a lot, and no light directly on the incubator.  However, I think I let them colonize too long since when I went to dunk, I noticed some small 1/2" to 1.5" shrooms wrapped around the sides of the jars, 2-3 max in only 2-3 jars.  I popped them off and dunked and rolled anyway, will this be a problem???  Is it ok to dunk and roll a jar cake if there are some small shrooms already appearing?  This has never happened to me before so I hope I didn't screw anything up.  Thanks so much.  Lemme know if you want pics, I took them jik but I don't think they're necessary, the explanation is pretty obvious whats going on to the trained myco genius (not me;).

Bro, you just gave me a heart attack.  For a second there, I freaked.  Jars take so long to begin with, I was freaked.  Anyway, it's good to hear that it'll b ok, I will definitely keep a closer eye next time.  I searched the forums and mostly I found things about cakes not being colonized enough, etc, I couldn't find anything on cakes being over-colonized with shrooms appearing.  I have another batch of jars which are almost ready.  The thing that sucks with jars of different strains is that some take weeks longer than others, and if you don't label correctly, it leads to problems, like the one I just had.  That was the first and only time I failed to label correctly.  Thanks for the reponses everyone.  I love this board, my first grow consisted of going onto the net, grabbing the first fake spores I could find, with miniature fake flower plastic jars, wasting the fake spores on the fake plastic polyfill jars, and losing $100 in the process, then I found this place and the sponsors forum.  Been great ever since.
