Tip of the day - rain water
    #1438712 - 04/08/03 10:48 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Wherever possible feed you indoor ethonbotanicals rain water rather than tap water. The Chlorine in tap water can have many negative effects on your plants. You can collect rain water into a barrel from your guttering!  They will love you for it.

And in the colder months let your watering can of rain water sit indoors for a
few hours before you pour it onto roots, to allow it to get nearer room temp :-)

Make sure you keep your buckets away from buildings and places outdoors that you like to frequent. Standing water is a haven for mosquitos........

This is very true :-) and can be turned from a problem to a soluition if you keep fish :-) as i always fill one watering can from the water butt(i have 4 in a row)
then using a tea strainer i pour one can into another through the strainer( summer months only) and this gives me a crawling mass of live food snacks for the tropical fish i keep :-)

Rain water can be very bad for plants too.

Have you seen what acid rain does to trees?

Otherwise, yes rain is great!

Alternatively, you could let a busket of tap water sit out of 24-36 hours to allow evaporation? of chlorine. Its what i do. Stay frosty.
