Absinthe is amazing and thujone does have its own effects  I hate debating with people on this so I will not. Don't listen to them and try it yourself. Don't drink more than 3 shots.

You want to buy the BITTER absinthe's though. Bitter = high thujone content (in europe), 34/35mg thujone per glass. Prepare the traditional way, sugar cube over an absinthe spoon, slowly dripping water, drop by drop.

Absinthe is bullshit. To anyone who has experienced LSD and/or mushrooms and other psychedelics it's just another bottle of hard alcohol. Nothing trippy about it. It's like saying "hey guys, I scored some thyme! Gonna smoke it tonight!" when you are a regular pot smoker.

gets you shitfaced...

I even tried making homemade absinthe... it was the most vile liquid I've ever drank, no amount of sugar could get rid of the extreme bitterness, I drank a lot of it, and again, I got drunk as fuck... that's it

your shroom wine sounds like a better idea if you wanna drink something alcoholic that'll make you trip

Absinthe isn't bullshit it's just another kind of distilled spirit. Nobody's claiming that it's trippy or makes them hallucinate everyone knows that isn't true.

What about this guy? Seems like he thinks it has effects other than getting you drunk.

He said thujone has it's own effects, which is true. He didn't claim it's psychedelic or anything like that.

Just read this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thujone

Thujone might cause difficulty paying attention, muscle spasms and seizures.

Sounds awful.

That's one of the reasons why absinthe should always be enjoyed in moderation.

Those risks with that nasty taste reenforces my thinking that I'm never going to drink absinthe again.

Some people love it others hate it. I love the stuff. I've been importing it from France for a long time but have yet to find a decent bottle available here.

Try the Suisse verte Clandestine some time, its probably one of the best bottles I have had, though it costs upwards of 70 dollars a bottle. The taste is magnificent, beautiful even :gd_icon:

call me crazy, but I actually enjoy the taste of the shit we get on the shelves here quite a bit, as well as the alcohol content, even if it's a bit pricey.

but the homemade shit I made, was fucking awful in the truest sense of the word... even if there were effects other then alcohol, there's no fucking way I'd drink it again.

I even tried making thujone hash after the failed ghettosinthe experiment, total waste of time... all it did was give me a headache... at least it didn't give me any muscle spasms or seizures though :P

it did make weed slightly more intense (definitely not placebo) but still, the headache made it totally not worth it.

Did you actually distill your own absinthe or did you use one of those kits where you make a tea with vodka? Those kits are nasty, real absinthe is distilled.

My buddy imported a few bottles of the real deal last summer.

It's total bullshit. Absinthe is a hard liquor that tastes like black liquorice and asshole that does nothing but get you really drunk.

After trying it I did a load of research and apparantly absinthe was often contaminated with heavy metals that made people go crazy. Wormwood/thujone is said to have minor calming psycoactive effects at best, and based on my experience i'm inclined to agree because I noticed no difference between absinthe and a bottle of vodka other than absinthe tastes about a million times worse.

There is nothing psychedelic this stuff. If you enjoy getting drunk and the taste of black liquorice and open asshole... this drink is for you.

This should read:

If you enjoy the intoxicating effects and have a sophisticated palate that can enjoy the subtle bouquet of anise, fennel, grand wormwood, and the many other herbs that make different absinthe's unique... this drink is for you.

no, didn't distill it... made it with everclear

it was fucking gross

there was no 'kit' either... it was just all lettin these herbs sit in booze for 5 days, then strained.. not sure how I managed to drink as much as I did :flowstone:

even if I distilled it I'm not sure it'd be worth the time really... much rather extract mescaline or DMT instead
