Should I sell car?

I got a 2000 Hyundia Elantra GLS with a bad clutch and cv joints. The car has 129630 miles on it. Would you sell or repair. The engine sounds good. Kelly Blue Book says $1665 in fair condition. What should I do? I do need a car sometime, but not for work. I'm not a mechanic and need to bring it to a shop. The clutch with labor is around 600.

if you can do the work without spending a ton on tools, repair it, if you cant or have to buy the tools, replace it

cv's are going to be about $60.00 bucks a piece. The clutch kit is around $180.00.
I'd change em and keep the car. Not sure what labor on that job would run. Probably around $400 bucks cause the tranny has to come off.

Like they said its about the tools and skills you have(or your ability to procure them). I would sell and buy a motorcycle as this is what I am about to do but that requires some thought.

hahahahaha
i was scrolling down the pub and the "official drunk thread of the pub" was below this thread and my eyes caught the two thread titles but hashed them together and it came out in my brain as
"are you drunk enough to sell a car?"

600$ to repair it. Don't list it as the fair KBB because you will get talked down, and won't be able to find a decent enough car for around 1500, that doesn't need it's own cluster of repairs ( in my experiences )
Just repair the car and keep it mang.

Welcome to the club. I even have a couple jobs but they are still so unreliable or non existent that they barely even count.

I won't lower the price and not gonna deal with haggling. It's quite low in price. I will buy a newer car for around 3500 or 4000 with 60000 miles.

A clutch job is a good bit of labor on a front wheel drive car. If I wanted to buy it I wouldn't go any higher than $800 bucks for it. And thats only if the engine starts and sounds to be in good shape.
Thats may just be me though.

It's not a truck, it's got good fuel economy. RP I'd fix it and store it. Worth saving especially if you don't use it often, you'll never have to fork out another few grand for a vehicle again, you'll always have a maintained one in the garage when you need it.

I found that in these times pawn shops have great deals on tools. Piece together what you need and it's not that much.

Making friends wiht people who are inclined to be mechanically gifted is a helpful thing too.
