Can I wait til morning to pressure cook rye after simmering?
    #14384701 - 05/01/11 08:18 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hey people...thanks for any help ya can give me.  I'm just getting back into the game a little bit and I'm wondering if I can wait til tommorow to PC some rye grains that I let soak today and then gave a twenty minute boil to.  I searched the forum for quite a while but haven't been able to get a clear answer on this one.  Just wondering if it's going to affect anything or if it's ok.  I soaked, boiled, drained and then scooped em into quart jars and put the lids on and covered in foil....they are sittting in the PC now but they are loud as hell when they get to rattling around and I have a roomate who wants to sleep....Thanks!!

Yes you can wait til tomorrow. I will often fill up a 5 gallon bucket of simmered grains throughout the evening, throw the lid on, and wait til the next day to jar them. 0 problems doing it this way.

I occasionally have made up a huge batch of rye berries and had something come up and they had to wait till the next day and ive experienced no problems

I did notice that if left in the jars they tend to sweat I'm not sure if it makes a difference

It's fine. If I have to wait, I prefer to load the jars first like that.

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?
