I just found 5 quart jars of ATL7 stones, a year and a half old ... are they worth opening up?

These are jars I forgot I even had. I never exhumed them because my living situation was not conducive to it. I THOUGHT I remembered them having some signs of contam, and actually as soon as I found them I got a wave of dread at the horrible moldy bacterial mess they must've turned into after over a year in the back of a closet ... but guess what? They're clean. They look completely healthy. They've got a small amount of that clear fungus-excretion fluid, and every jar is a nice fluffy off-white color across the entire surface of the glass.
Either I was mistaken about thinking they had signs of contam (I can barely remember what they looked like back then, and could be confusing them w/ something else), OR they were in fact slightly contaminated, but the fungus fought a hard battle and won.
Either way, these jars are old as fuck. If I open them up, am I walking into a putrid stench and some poisonous do-not-eat shit, or might I have actually just had an accidental christmas?

O shit, stone tea, why did I never think of that?
Tea tends to have a more rapid onset, greater effect, and shorter duration, right? How many g of stones would you suggest for a lvl 3 + trip?

isn't sclerotia nature's way of preserving a fungus for long periods of time without producing fruit bodies?

right, especially if you add some lemon juice to the mixture while youre brewin up the tea, not as intense or short as a lemon tek trip tho
I would say do 5 to 7 gs if the stones are dry, and maybe 12-15 if theyre still fresh for a real good trip.
also,

Thanks Mope -- and sorry guys, no pics. I don't have a camera at the moment.
If I can I'll open these things up today, try the tea, and report back, but I'm not sure whether or not I have the time.

Oh, yeah just case a jar directly and fruit it. <-- there's the tek for that.
Stones are so easy to grow that overthinking is a real hazard.

There's a sixty-page thread with details on sclerotia, a three-page FAQ that links into the longer page, and any number of grows by myself and many other members including several great ones by Stonesun, as mentioned upthread.
Search "atl on brf" for one example. But anybody too lazy to click the search link doesn't deserve spoon feeding.
