Gyms of some sort or no?
    #14382868 - 05/01/11 02:11 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Found in NE ohio next to a rotting deciduous stump

spore print seemed to be a purple/black/brown mixture

I would say almost certainly, but I could be wrong, I've just started getting into identification.

No. Those are nowhere near close to being gyms--unless that bundle survived the snow.
Gyms should have a rusty brown spore print--not purple or whatever. Thick, orange woody stems and orange/brown gills.

 There we go, I didn't even take spore print into account. (Not the best idea!)

I mean, they're not that far off. The underside and cap are pretty deceptive but I live in NE OH and I'm pretty sure gyms only fruit in the fall and late summer--plus i've never seen them come in crazy clusters liek that. Spring gyms would be weird.
