Strait coir will work great....its cheap and readily available at petstores

just make sure its pet grade and not from a garden centre they sometimes add anti bacterials to it....or just read the ingredients to make sure whats been added

this.  if you can, get some gypsum and verm to add to the mixture,  but one straight brick of coir is generally enough for a monotub

the verm is not necessary, just a nice additive that makes your substrate a bit fluffier and adds some nutes

you could use rice as a spawn I guess but doesnt work real great

lawn fertilizers - no.

Just go to you local pet store.  Get a 20 lb bag of Wild Bird Seed for like $4.  Then go to the reptile aisle and pick up a brick of coir for like $3.  Both guaranteed to be readily available if you have a pet store near you.

and yes, you can grind up dry wall to have some powered gypsum.  or you could go to a local nursery and pick up garden gypsum.

 your missing the point here, you cant make a bulk substrate out of straight gypsum.  You need the brick of coir, then you can add up to like 15% gypsum.  Any more than that is detrimental.  you CAN NOT grow anything with just the shit you have now.

you need to do much more reading before you start growing anything :mushroom2:

Were really trying to help you but your not listening, the materials you currently have are not acceptable for a bulk substrate

please take our advice and get what we suggested or if you can't your just going to have to wait until you can

Do you have spores yet or a FC?

Cubes wont grow in that sawdust/woodchip bag. Gonna need either woodlovers or edibles for that.
