My Simple Casing/Terranium

As I read through all the Tek?s out there, it seems they?re all so bloody unnecessarily complex! I?ve tried this only once before, but (due to police officers coming to investigate burglary at my house) it had to be chucked shortly before the first flush was fully matured.

I case my substrate in plastic ice cream boxes with vermiculite. These than go in a big, clear ?rubber-maid-like? container which has an inch of water (with a splash or peroxide) on the bottom and an aquarium heater.

Obvioulsy not precise, but my heating and humidification problems seem to be solved at once. By turning the temperature down on the heater, the humidification also drops in the rubbermaid container (well, judging by the amount of condensation on the side, that is).

I use the same method during the incubation process. The glass jars simply sit in an inch of water in the container. Obviously no humidification is necessary, but it?s great for keeping them warm.

I?ve got one of those stick-on thermometres on the side of the container (barely visible on bottom-most side in photo), so I can keep the temp fairly accurate.

Any comments or suggestions?

Cubensis. Strains are

1. Thai Pink Buffalo (going well)
2. Mazatapec (sp?) (Very slow, but thicker mycelium)
3. Wild Aussie (picked myself and totally contaminated - but WAS going really well! LOL )
