Open mics, ever performed at one before?

My first experience with one was 2 weeks ago where I had my first ever live performance (which turned out to be 2387562387568276x better than what I'd ever expected and the reception for my music was PHENOMENAL!) and I'm really loving them, especially considering the guy who hosts this one I go is a good friend of mine and wants me as the main event from now on (so instead of just an open mic, it'll be an actual show) plus he's the best sound engineer I've ever met and made sure that my sound is CRYSTAL CRISP CLEAR, so much better than my shitty album production!
One thing I loved was the diversity, and the showcase of talent from some unexpected folks. I think I'll be doing this every Thursday until the day I die.
I was wondering if anybody else has had personal experience with open mics before and if so, how did it go for you, and how many times did you do it/do you still perform?

I used to do them all the time at a DIY venue downtown.

Yeah, me and some of my musical buddies from high school still do these into college in the summer. We do an "open mic" at his family's bar every every 2 weeks. There's probably about 6 of us and there are maybe 3 or 4 play shows a night from us--often times we'll do acoustic duets or whatever too or get together for a song. Its really a lot of fun. Like yours, I have a friend called Bob that is a damn good sound engineer. He has some great mics and equipment and doesn't mind setting up if we're all going to have a good time. Small crowds hear us play, sometimes old friends come in packs to watch or whatever and occasionally people in the bar enjoy us.
A few times people have showed up for the "open mic" part of the night and we let em play and enjoy it. Its great having people eager to play a set--a lot of them are even practiced for it and sound great.

That's awesome! Did you feel nervous at all?
Yeah I spent a good 2 hours compiling and practicing a good setlist. Over time I'll throw in some more experimental psychedelic stuff into the mix and reveal my wyzrdd scretz

hahaha that's great
I was nervous the first time but tons of people told me afterwords that it was great and that they loved my voice. It really reassured me and I haven't been too nervous since, unless I'm playing a song that I know I'm not that good at or mess up or something.
I like to play older music that people can recognize. Some of the "classic" 90's rock stuff or the beatles, john lennon, bob dylan. One of the guys has a harmonica and the metal thing to holster it around his head so he can play a lot of dylan that sounds good. mostly its all acoustic stuff though.
