"The OpenBSD project produces a FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system. Our efforts emphasize portability, standardization, correctness, proactive security and integrated cryptography. "
its supposed to be a safer operating system that makes u less prone to hackers/ attackers kinda like Linux...
anyone here used or tried?

I prefer OpenBSD as my choice of Server OS and Desktop OS. Been using it since version 1.8 came out,
Did you know they are based out of University of Alberta? and on the openbsd.org website on the bottom right corner is a picture of their servers they have been using since they first started up. click on the pic to enlarge it.
Its an awesome OS, you can do pretty much anything with it with some tweaking, and it is very fast and secure.

I had it on my computer for a week or so. I was mostly just playing around trying different OS's on a spare computer I had. I was in a phase of life where I would try a different Linux or BSD OS for a few days at a time.
If you do try it, make sure you have a spare computer thats hooked to the internet that you can use to search for solutions for any problems you might encounter.

no offense, but ubuntu is kinda lame. Its Ok if you want a quick to install OS that has lots of drivers and will guarantee you some compatibility with hardware, but I find it slow and too overloaded with graphical apps. I could have not seen a good version though, I think you can make a micro version of ubuntu to load onto a USB stick, and that is always handy.

Ubuntu might not be leet enough for some of yallz, but it sure beats the hell out of having to waste a bunch of time getting shit to work and having to compile drivers and shit. A stripped down os can be faster itself, but you end up spending more time doing simple tasks.
