High Blood Pressure
    #14381674 - 05/01/11 08:34 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Went to donate plasma today for the first time and was rejected because of high blood pressure. My blood pressure was 170 with a pulse of 110. I don't think i ever remember having this high of blood pressure, but it does run in my family. I also tend to get nervous a lot. I also took 20mg of ir addy yesterday and think that this might have something to do with it. I also smoked a blend of weed and whatever the hell is in the new k2 (which i am not doing again). I don't know if i should be worried or not. I am only 18.

Most nationaly recognized health organizations fail to realize that every person is different, and if you dont fall in the catagory of normality then you will be rejected.  My walking heart rate is on average 42 beats per minute, i asked a pharmacist if that was ok, and they told me i should sit down if i feel dizy? and all that bullshit even though it runs in my family and doesnt effect me at all...If it is not bothering you, or your not feeling anxious, or stressed, or flushing of the skin, i wouldnt worry about it, depends on ur age too.

I don't think im taking addy again since i have had too many complications/ negative effects with it as of late. I only take addy about once every two weeks and do not usually go over 20mg. My heart always beats super fast on it.

taking it again could kill you.

those are extremely high numbers, and you may have high blood pressure outside of your addy use.

you're fairly young to have that high of numbers and the chances are it will only get worse if you continue your current lifestyle.

yes, seriously.

with those numbers you might expect a similar lifespan as your uncle.

yea man, i would seriously go see your doctor and discuss this with them. way way too high for your age, and the stress/anxiety and speed will only make it that much harder on your body. hope all goes well

I asked because there is a condition known as "White Coat high blood pressure" which results from simply being in a medical setting.

that may have contributed to the high readings as well as the addy.

play it safe, maybe get checked out by a doctor soon.

the human body can be extremely tough though, and you're young, so you can relax a bit.

Pain,stress,nervousness,sickness,drugs,genes,etc...all play a big role in standard blood pressure/heart rate.  My father, Myself, My grandfather, my grandmother all have high blood pressure by genes naturaly, and we all live healthy lives...The tell tale signs of it doing damage is when your body starts showing signs of it. I would def lay off the stimulants, and possibly ask more questions about your family history.  When they tested you with the "Prick finger test" was your heart pounding like it does with adrenaline?

Go find a blood pressure machine. Most grocery stores have them near the pharmacy.  Check you BP on a regular basis.  Then take the average of several measurements.  This will give you a better idea of what your BP is on a regular basis.

palmar hyperhidrosis and high BP could be linked, palmar hyperhidrosis could be a result of a consistant high BP if it was not inherited, also having too much of a toxin in your blood stream can cause a massive spike in blood pressure causing profuse sweating, headaches, turning red and blotchy..which in turn will lead to feeding your palmar hyperhidrosis...Im no doctor by definition, but i would try laying off some drugs, perhaps try a detox plan with the right methods and advice, and I use meditation to keep my BP and Heart rate very low.
