Melbourne - Inactives 2011
    #14381522 - 05/01/11 07:04 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Found these in grass near pines.
No bruising.
Detached veil.
Faint smell when raw
When cooked it smells similar to watercolour paints.
I tasted it (spat it out after for safety) it tasted pretty boring and also tasted like what watercolour paints smell like.

Anybody found the same sort of fungi?
I'm not sure I would eat them as they are not fantastic, the 'mushroom' flavour is weak and the watercolour paint taste/smell is not exactly appetizing.

Maybe Agaricus xanthodermus, or if not another inedible Agaricus.

Agaricus xanthodermus regularly grows on my front lawn and these look awfully similar. I know the smell you mean, it reminds me of poster paint or fountain pen ink, but watercolour paint is also a good description.
