Yeah but I still think mature ones contain more... not per gram, but overall... and by mature I mean once the veil has broken. Either way no point in arguing, pick what you want, i just know i wont pick any that haven't opened yet..
& nice pics btw

Hey everyone, Iv been lurking this forum for a few months now.. gathering information on hunting subs. Just wana thank you all for the effort you put in this site!
Went on my 1st hunt today and found an excellent area, seems that the area is just starting to fruit now as there were hundreds of pins and not many mature shrooms..I will be going back there in a week or so. Anyway here is what i harvested in the space of 40 mins today!

Thank you all for this again Toki

mindchimp said: seems to be a bit of a debate of if potency is in weight or size.. or neither. Maybe the mushroom starts off with a certain amount of Psilocybin and then the larger it gets it just spreads out.. . who knows Ill do some research.
My thoughts exactly. The reason I think there is this fog around this is that there are many people here that get very emotional over people picking pins. Personally, I have picked plenty of them, mainly because the patch that Ive found was soo freaking huge, that picking off the pins would do shit all to it. And eating 9 pins that weight 0.9grams as a whole, made me trip so much more then 2 shrooms that weighted 1.5grams.
I always weigh my dose, and get almost exactly the same strength each time... I eat 2-3 big mushrooms and it gives me the same effect as when I eat 10 medium/small ones...
EDIT: Do a search for this if you don't believe me. Technically smaller ones are more potent by gram, but a big one can weigh 10x a pin. A big one is stronger than a pin, but not 10x, even though it weighs 10x more. 10 pins weighing 2grams vs. 10 mature ones weighing 20grams... 2grams aint going to put you on your ass... but Id like to see you eat 20grams..
'That's like, totally your opinion, man.'
Anyway, my find today. The patch is getting bigger and bigger every time I come back.

stunning thread guys! I have been bemushroomed most of my life and have recently taken to photography... I'm planning to make some visits to the mountains soon, I'd really love to meet Amanita Muscaria in person so I could shoot them. Naturally I'm an old friend of subs and cubs but literally love all mushrooms.
If any of you Sydney siders want to **** up with a harmonious and respectful tripper for a wander in the fog, I'm peoples people and will share gorgeous macro photos from our fun. please PM me
Here's a couple of pics from yesterday arvo in Marrickville parklands

hey guys im another frequent lurker of the thread found these today 90% sure there subs, on picking they blued strongly. the bluing has now faded enough that you cant see it in the pic. doing a spore print now so i'll update with that once its ready.

can anyone tell me what these are they have dark purple/brown spores, tend to have very light bluing around the outside of the caps where still wet but the stems do not bruise blue i thought maybe psilocybe australiana, they are growing in abundance from eucalyt-dead wood leaf mulch just down the road friggin mega amounts of them coming up =

thanks guys, this forum rocks

First three pics defiantly don't have any subs in them, Last 2 don't look like they do either, hard to tell with those photos.. Bluing doesn't fade... I dont see any bruising.. Have another nang.

if they bruise blue, and have a purple/black spore print they should be good.
Although judging from the pics I wouldn't say that there was anything active there. like Ouijah said you need to take some better photos to ID them properly. Try the ID section, you might have more luck.

on further investigation i believe the shrooms i have are stropharia aurantiaca. first 3 picks. but the bluing reaction i witnessed on picking them and squeezing the stems was very noticeable and strophs aren't supposed to bruise at all...

I believe that I missed out on a huge patch of subs today. I saw them in the hunter region growing in some wood chips on the side of the road. I was waiting for a bus so I had limited time to I.D them but when I went back today they were all gone except for a few yellow stemmed mushrooms which I believe are Galerina?? I will keep my eye out though.

Nature bestowed a nice little bounty today. Unfortunately no pics from the hunt but here's what i ended up with:

The dried are from another patch earlier today, the wet are from my main one.
I knew this season was going to be good. Its not as much as you guys down south are hauling in (jealous ) but its way more than what i was finding this time last year. Things are only going to get better from here on in. Im excited
Also psycho4ctive, please dont tell me you know that from experience...
