LSA Morning Glory

Having recently purchased some Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds containing LSA off the net I was doing some research and came across some pics of the Morning Glory Plant whose seeds also contain LSA.
Growing up my parents had MG growing in their garden - it is a noxious weed in my area and grows out of control taking over all the other plants in the garden. Needless to say countless hours of my youth were devoted to ripping out the MG from our garden.
Twenty years later and the plant still sprouts up every year.
I went for a drive this morning and took some pics of it growing in some reserves around where we live.

Has anyone ever tried the seeds from the variety growing in my pictures? I have heard mixed reports on whether the purple variety contains any LSA?

Of course they contain LSA. It may be a different concentration then the well known Heavenly Blues, but they'll work.

Incorrect.
Not all Ipomoea species contain LSA. The species you have there is not Ipomoea violacaea (Confirmed LSA containing) It is not all about color.
I am trying to identify it right now. Do not consume it until you know for sure it is safe.
EDIT: I am thinking it is Ipomoea indica. Do not consume.
Does it have a hairy stem/vine? Were there any seed pods yet and if so were they hairy? Could you get a picture of the seed pods?

Since the seeds contain the highest concentration of alkaloids, and you'll want about 150 seeds for a fair dose, you would do better purchasing guaranteed seeds wholesale than trying to collect enough unidentified seeds from the local garden. Anyway, enjoy the plant!

I agree. Unless you are after a self sustaining source, it seems easier to just buy some MG seeds in bulk from a trusted source.
You could go to wal-mart or similar and buy some MG seeds and grow them out and have lots of safe to consume seeds by the end of the season. You can also plant a few of the HBWR seeds you purchased and in 2 years you may have some seeds.

The stems are hairy - no noticeable seed pods on the plant - from what i have read the seeds are inside the flower and can be harvested after the flower has died.
I think the HBWR seeds would be much less effort to harvest and have a much higher concentrate of LSA.
Still nice to get some options on the MG Plant as it is growing in abundance.

That it be. Can't take credit for it though, I just planted my first passion flower seeds this week.

From what I've noticed, the morning glory weeds growing around Melbourne don't seem to seed. I have looked high and low for seed pods but they just don't seem to have any.

And that's why it's planted in my ethno garden! But this is something for another topic. I'd love to discuss some homemade smoking blends and preparations and all somewhere else, on that note, back to LSA. I just finished my first LSA extraction yesterday. As in now I have to wait for it to evaporate away.
At the end of the extraction I am left with the yellowy goo, is there a good way to get that into some powder form?

What sort of extraction did you do EthnoHorter?
ChaosOne: HBWR takes longer to seed when grown from seed,a few seasons. Where as with MG you will have seeds the same season you planted.

Used about 3500 heavenly blue MG seeds. -Coffee ground them -soaked them in naptha, strained, let them evaporate off -soaked them in everclear and collected the yellow fluid repeated the alcohol extraction -let the yellow alcohol evaporate down to a gel The gel is acceptable, but I would much prefer a powder or solid form. It's for a collection and possible personal use.

Its can be difficult to get a solid from alcohol extractions as there is water in everclear.
Drying it some more may help. The alcohol may have extracted some oils as well, if this is the case you probably wont be able to get a solid/powder. With your naptha pre-soak you should have gotten rid of a lot of that stuff though.
Care to post a picture?

Sure, will do as soon as I find my digital camera...
It's just yellow goop on a plate, but I'll get a pic up. Yeah, I'm in no rush, so I figure I'll just keep letting it dry until I'm satisfied or lose interest. Thanks aneway

Yeah letting it dry would be your best bet. But you dont want to let it sit out in the open air and light too long.

Here are two pics of the extract. I think it might be a bit of both of what you said, oils and water. It no longer smells of alcohol, but it has a little liquid(water) and where there is no longer any liquid, it is a bit sticky(oil) Oh well.

Well that looks like a pretty clean extract!
Good luck and happy trails.
