I don't live close to OH. I was born there, but moved when I was an infant.
True "NE" is not Ohio. It should be something in the north east coast, but I've been saying that forever and it doesn't matter, it;s already decided for OH.  Even when my parents lived there, they called it the mid west. 
I've been trying to get a ride out there from the real north east.

I just got back from seeing Benny Golson play, he's one of my tenor sax idols.. for those that don't follow jazz, he's one of the most prolific composers and sax players of all time.. 82 years old and still cookin'. Really nice guy too.

I live in Ft Wayne, Indiana area and we call that the NW lol. The ledges are practically the east coast haha.
