Was this a dick move?
    #14379593 - 04/30/11 09:10 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

So i was going to my friends house who lives on a kind of curvy road that a lot of drunk people drive on. So when i get there, there's a guy stuck in the ditch. Like there was no way he was getting out.

So i was all like... I always wanted to call 911. So i called them to let them know there was a guy stuck in the ditch and I wasn't sure if he was okay.

So the cops come... And long behold they start giving him a sobriety test. Then a breathalyzer. The next thing they are putting cuffs on him and putting him in the back of  a cruiser. I kind feel like it was my fault i got him fucked. But then again, he should learn a lesson and not drink and drive?

Well the guy was potentially putting other people in danger. The car was slightly still on the road. And he turned all his lights and car off to avoid being seen i suppose.

I cant run around and kill some tha steals from me because they'll involve
the police, if I beat them senseless, same result, same as me stealing from
them as payback, are you suggesting I turn a blind eye?

what about if some tool molests my daughter, should I involve the cops or
face the murder charge for killing the fuckwit that did it?

yeah, my step father sure learned after totaling 4 vehicles and getting 8
DUIs before he was given a life sentence only to be released to get two more,
one when he drove drunk to the courthouse to make his appearance

Basement, steel drum, several hundred dollars worth of NaOH and a nice toilet in the city or that attaches to a communal septic system (you wouldn't want that going into your own private septic tank now would you?).

Murdering someone for molestation is a bit over the top though, way over the top really.

OP - you contributed to getting someone arrested.  Congratulations.

If you were so concerned you should helped him get off of the road or asked if he needed a tow to be called.

As Joe said, you should never involve the police in anything unless its your business, and 99% of the time they won't be useful even then.

Well, if you weren't sure if the guy was okay, the best thing would have been to check on him yourself (but I probably wouldn't have done anything because I'd probably not want to check on a stranger alone).

He crashed his car because he was drunk. He shouldn't have been on the road, so I really don't think it's that bad that he was arrested, but I too might feel guilty if he had gotten arrested because of me.

If the crash looked really bad and I REALLY thought the person wasn't okay, I would call the cops. I'd rather contribute to someone getting arrested than contribute to someone dying because they didn't get medical help in time or some shit.

If it was just a regular crash and it didn't look like there were any injuries, I wouldn't do anything.

For example, someone crashed into a tree in my yard and they got out and were fine and my brother drove her home and we left her car in our yard. Her car was fucked so that we couldn't turn of the lights very easily and sure enough, a cop comes up after we took her home. The cop makes my brother show the cop where her house was. That's a crash where the cops didn't need to be called.

So it's hard to tell if I would consider it a dick move unless I got to see how bad the crash was.

Correct me if I'm wrong: They can't do shit to the guy because they didn't catch him actually driving.

^ you got a point.. can they??

besides that you werent in the wrong. but you prob should of talked to him.....

either way around christmas a drunk driver ran through 3 neibors yards and hit the 3rd neibors tree. He knocked over my mail box and my neibors and then hit the 3rd neibors tree, who werent home...

so what did i do??

I called the cops on his ass. It was at night, but he could of ran over anyone, could of ran his car into someones house, plus he ran over our mailboxes.

So basically i disagree with most people in this convo. :winning1:

I'll be the first to say you weren't wrong at all. Forget about it.

Fuck that guy for driving drunk. He clearly wasn't capable of driving a car since he was stuck in a fucking ditch, so fuck him.

you're right, torturing them, and dismembering them while they're still alive
and dumping their still living body in a gator pit isnt over the top, the way
I see it, child molestation and rape fuck a person's head up for life, in
many cases it destroys their lives. murder or the death penalty are more or
less a reward, prison is a close second, castration only makes the evil come
out and the next offense could be far more gruesome like raping a little girl
with a broken bottle. at least with death there's no repeat offense, with
dismemberment and torture, there's no repeat offense... how the hell you
gonna rape someone when you have no arms or legs... assuming you survive
having them sawed off over the course of several hours

still, as a general rule either find a way to help him yourself or move along, no need to call the cops. That's just taking on a responsibility that has no place with you. But yeah, its no so bad considering that guy was obviously being highly irresponsible

I am surprised by everyone here who said this is a dick move. It's not. You didn't know why he went off the road. He could have had a heart attack, or any other number of things. What if there'd been others in the car too, injured? You did the right thing IMO. I'm wondering, were you parked there watching though?? Or did you end up driving somewhere nearby. If the guy was outside of his car you could have asked him what was up before calling, but that puts you in danger...who knows.

Guy shouldn't be driving while drunk, period.
