Psilocybe Silvatica
    #14378911 - 04/30/11 06:34 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat:
Old growth fir forest, growing from sphagnum moss covering wood debris.

Gills:
light yellow/brown in younger spices and darker brown in the old larger spices.

Stem:
Length 1-5 inches. color brownish underneath whiteish fibrillose hairs. thin. I also don't think any of the stems are strait they all seem to curve some what.

Cap:
Darker brown on the more mature ones, yellowish/orange on the small ones.

Spore print color:
in process

Bruising:
All seem to have a darker blushish/purple coloring near base of stem, easily seem in larger ones

Other information:
I know this is the wrong time of year so I am a little curious if they are what I think that they are.

Dude. Those arent Ps silvatica. They're Conocybe smithii or Conocybe cyanopus. I can tell by the cap and gill color already. Congratulations on the rare find man! Id love a print!

EDIT: Most likely Conocybe smithii since they were growing in Moss and not in grass like cyanopus prefer

definetly not even close to P silvaticas and i really dont see the blueing, bluish purple to me as a description means you might be hoping you see a bluish tone because blue is blue once you see it there is no denying it. Conocybe is a genus that cannot be taken lightly and are not just something to just mess around with .to me these look like a Conocybe tenera. if you can show me good blueing than definetly C smithii. they are that close IMO.

HEY PARADISE HOWS IT GOING BRO!?

It's not a Psilocybe species and I have my doubts about Conocybe also, I would be very careful with those, it looks very much like a Galerina species.

The 4 set aside in the last pic to the right are most definitely Galerina the bases are already staining darkbrown/black at the base...

Sorry I know that the print sucks ass but they are still kinda fresh.
I always try to heir on the side of caution and would never eat something that I thought would kill me. I don't know what kind of mushrooms these are but I do see some similarity between what i found today and Silvactica. I am just guessing what they are and would love someone to confirm or deny my suspicious.
