Down in a hole

I'm probably in the worst shape both mentally and physically that I've ever been. Last year, I decided to move up to San Jose for some different life experiences, since I was partying too hard every weekend in Hollywood, was laid off from my job, and my bf and I broke up, I wanted a change of scenery. Since I've been here, I've been looking frantically for a job, but my unemployment has run out. So not only can I not afford to go out and meet new people, I can't afford to eat anything but crap, so I've put on weight. I'm stuck at home every day with my 2 roommates who don't even talk anymore, all they seem to do is fight. My 1 roommate is an old friend of mine, who's a cool guy, but his girlfriend annoys the ever loving shit out of me. So I'm super lonely, because I hate hanging out with them, and my whole existence here is lifeless and gray.
I'm super homesick, and would give anything to move back, except I'm flat broke. If I did move back, I could couch surf with my family and friends, but none of them would be too happy about me bringing my cat with me. If I don't find a job in the next couple weeks I can't afford rent here anyway and will have to move down. Long story short, I'm miserable in a place where I have no friends, and am getting uglier and fatter by the day, since I have a thyroid problem and my body is rejecting the shit I put into it. I'm gonna go hiking or something. I can't stand being in my room another second

Tough situation that does suck, I wish you the best of luck in the job search. I was unemployed for the longest time and it truly sucks being a lazy bum and getting a shitty check for it.
In the mean time the hiking sounds like a good plan. Physical exercise like that is a great way to keep your mind off things, keep yourself in good shape and its FREE

Lets list out the goals you want to achieve, by your post it sounds like:
1. Living in a place where you're happy (with me ) 2. Having a steady job 3. Being on medication for hypothyroidism 4. Living and eating healthy
Even in these tough times, I believe these goals can be attained. Its not like you're trying to become an overnight millionaire, you're just trying to live well. Also, it sounds like one stone can hit multiple targets, for example:
attaining 3, will help you in attaining 4 2, will help you get 1, 3, 4
If you cant find the job you want, you have to get whats available and look for right one in the mean time. Office depot, trader joes, target, lowes, etc... just start with something like that and keep searching for something better while youre getting a paycheck. While youre doing that, try and put money aside each paycheck, perhaps 5-15%, for moving expenses. After 6 months youll have a decent savings that you can put towards a deposit and first months rent at a new place.
Hopefully your job is full time, so you will be given benefits, but if its not, you need to take the initiative to schedule an appointment for yourself and pay for it; as youre aware there is some kind of financial assistance available, it shouldnt take too long to get in and see a doctor who can accurately prescribe you the dosage of dessicated thyroid (t3t4) or synthetic thyroid (t4) your body needs, so you dont have to play a guessing game with canadian medication orders.

Thanks for the pep talk, baybee. Since I'm starting my new job on Monday I'll have money to get out of the house every once in a while, eat healthier, and save up to move in with yew when my lease is up here. Also, in about 2 months I'll have health insurance to get my thyroid and finger taken care of. Probably the thing I'm happiest about is just having somewhere to go during the day, so I'm not stuck in my bedroom that I've started to look at like a jail cell.

Sorta. I went to a medical clinic a few months ago for something completely unrelated, and inadvertently found out I have hypothyroidism, but the clinic can't treat it. So I've been waiting for an income and insurance to get it fixed

If you want someone to go on a hike or bike ride with, let me know. I just moved to San Jose, jobless, friendless, and hypothyroid myself.
edit:
That post sounded Debbie Downer. What I mean is I need to get out and have some fun, party, go to some shows, enjoy the awesome weather and nature out here. I have two feet, a bike, and a car. Willing to travel. Same goes for you, sandi.
