in the a conifer forest of mixxed hemolco and fir Gills: Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc. no gills. flat black color of the underside of the cup
Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
thin, same color as the underside of cup
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
concave cup, very perfect shape, dark brown
Spore print color: Very important!
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
Other information: Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.
i found this interesting cup fungus while searching for that other wierd ascomycete from last week. this spot is turning out to be SWEET! right on the side of a road too! although not found by a snow bank Plectania nannfedtii is the closest thing i can find in MD.

heres the MO link.http://mushroomobserver.org/66622?q=4JDO

I hate it when that happens.

In spite of the lack of snow, I'd call it that. I wouldn't spell it that way though.
