the only reason that people here advocate the pf tek over rye for beginers is that there is far more room for error in the pf method. Rye is very and I mean very unforgiving, hell I thew away over eight pounds of contaminated rye just the other day. It is important to have success on your first attempts to grow mushrooms so that you can have this success to use as a crutch later in life when you move to rye and you have to do something like say oh I don't know throw away eight pouds of contaminated rye. Good luck.
