Hmm yeah, i dunno. Stem is a bit off as well i guess... Spore print it! Make an ID req... get some TI's. I wanna know what it is!
well we ended up agreeing that it was active after examining, we put all the shrooms in a tea so even if it wasn't active the risk was minimised. From my little reading Galerina don't bruise blue, and this thing was blue all over. I'm kinda wishing I did keep it now, you made me curious. needless to say the trip was excellennnttttt! only had about 10 each and it came on within about 15 minutes and lasted for ages, the most fun I've had in a long time.

that is all well and good, but don't get in the habbit of eating un-identified shrooms. I don't know if the message is getting through to you or not but you can possibly D I E from ignorance and not being prudent with your mushrooms. Liver failure is no joke. Even if you live, it's IRREPORABLE LIVER DAMAGE. Don't be stupid and risk your life over 6 hours of fun. There is more then enough mushrooms around for you to find and enjoy, just be patient next time and ensure you have the right ones 100%.

yeah, i went on a bit of a disasterous hunt today mate. Took my bike out which recently got fixed, and the thing is still messed up, the engine is constantly flooding for some reason, keeps stalling etc. BAH.
And there were no shrooms around due to the weather being shit as of late, BUT, there was some good news too. I saw a few pins of this special kind of very dark and potent psilocybe i had been finding all last season, but none this season. And the normal subs were fruiting, but these special ones weren't. Luckily today though i saw a few of the really dark pins
I also found some trees of interest

yeah no worries, theres an event coming up soon at brown alley called pharmacy, might be abit expensive though, and theres always bubble on every week as well. Bubble has just opened two new levels, and theres heaps of backpacker chicks going now and stuff, the crowd is alot nicer. Alot better for picking up chicks , and still has the main arena with the tunes.
It's an old kawasaki, i just got it fixed, something to do with the carburettors flooding petrol, or the 'o-rings' in it or something. i don't know. The bike shop said they fixed it but its jsut flooding all the time now so i'm going to get them to fix it for free, because it's their fault. It wasn't like this before.
Yeah i think there is some around locally as well. Fairly rare though. There are definately some out in far east melb as well.

Here are some shroomies I found yesterday in inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. They were picked from 3 different locations, all growing in pinebark wood chips and sheltered under non-native bushes. There is about 150g in total. Thinking of making a nice tea with ginger and dash of lemon juice
They are a bit past their prime unfortunately, a bit dry and manky. They must have popped up a week or two ago and since then their hasn't really been any rain to keep the ground nice and damp.
I left lots of pins, so hopefully the site will continue to flourish.
Not sure what variety these are?

Yeah i'm sticking with my original post, i think it was a sub. I've seen many with wavy gills at the edge. Just the wavy cap was a little weird, but it could have just been drying before u picked it. And that was unmistakable bluing....

LOL, yeah yeah relax. I left stacks of pins behind and stacks of mycelium as well.
I was a little unprepared, I didnt have a camera, suitable collecting container or anything. When I go back i will have all the right gear... including SCISSORS (sheesh).

No doubt bro.
I have collected up all the excess bits of mecilium to spread around in my garden. I have a little patch of woodchips that Ill mix the bits of shroom into... maybe ill get something growing there in seasons to come.

dont do that on purpose. thats being greedy. These gifts are being provided to you for nothing at all. literally nothing at all. you will get earth shattering experiences with nothing but that part of the earth to thank for. THE LEAST you can do is have some damn respect for the patch, treat it nicely, and not DAMAGE IT FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL GAIN.

I strongly disagree.
The mushrooms will be much happier and do better in the long run if you rip out the stem butts when you pick them, then plant the stem butts in fresh wood chips in various places.
When removing mycelium from a patch it is a really good idea to fill any holes created with fresh wood chips.

What's wrong with spreading mushrooms? The patch will recover from the lost mycelium, and new patches will form in new areas.

Alright well, Alan knows alot more about these things then i do, so i'm going to defer to his judgement on this one.
I was previously of the opinion that removing the mycelium can ruin patches, but i guess if it is used to create new patches and spreads the species further then this is a good thing.

Jeez settle down fellas. Like i said above there is a great deal of mycelium left behind as well as many small pins that will grow into larger shroomies.
At the larger patch I left behind probably 40-50% of the mushrooms which were either too small or too old and crumbly. All those old shrooms will release all their spores, and these patches are ones I have been returning to for a few years so obviously Im not over exploiting them. When I go back I will take pics of the patch to show u.
I do take the point however that its probably a good idea to use scissors so as to avoid disturbing the mycelium as much as possible.
And those extra bits of mycelium that I took up with some of the shrooms have gone to a good use... hopefully starting anew patch
