Monotub: Direct Grain to grain

Is it worth the risk to preform a grain to grain transfer directly into a monotub? It would cut down recovery time, but would it be worth it?

If you could PC the whole monotub, and had a flowhood the size of a 737, then no, it would still be a bad idea.

Nope. Not worth the risk.

You might gain a few days but you risk losing the 2-3 weeks you took to colonize all your spawn.
UNLESS your working in a "Clean Room" with sterile procedures. Ahhh we can all dream!

If there was a mico-bag that fit it perfectly, that would work. I guess you could make one yourself.

Recovery time. With a myco-bag, you'd just cut the top and the corners then slide the bag away.
If you get a good spore spread, it won't rot. Damn that chick is hot, I must know who it is.

Recovery time isn't a problem to be solved, it's a fact of nature.
The girl is Boxxy. You can google her story but watch this short video first:

If you go to a pasteurized substrate, it might work (outside of a cleanroom) I have seen this done with some success, although thier returns were decreased. They just had so much space to use, it didn't matter. It was fast and produced enough mushrooms to satisfy demand. When using a monotub I would want to get every gram possible out of the substrate. A cleanroom is not so difficult as you might think. I am working on a design for a small (8'x5') cleanroom laboratory. I figure it will cost me about $300-$400. Including lumber, HEPAs and plastic lining. It's basically a flowhood that you enter and work in. Of course I will use my flowhood inside as well.

No special reason, if you can believe it. I'd read the story about the time I signed up. But everybody raged so hard that now I can't change it or I'd be the Bitch of All Anonymice.

That's hilarious now that I think of it I remember seeing someone rage about it...it went something like "I find it hard to take someone serious with Boxxy for a avatar"
