How can we stop young people from picking up rifles and shooting other human beings in ALL COUNTRIES because wealthy people tell them to? That is the tricky part and I don't think it's possible. So all this arguing and bickering is pointless.

Well then You must be some kind of super duper tough guy Rambo because without the military you would be a fucking slave.
Personally. Don't need some hic with a gun to protect my junk.
I know its odd, the idea of violence in the American suburbs, but personally I grew up in the real world where its very common. Can't tell you how many beatings I've taken/given. There aren't a lot of cops where I live, or grew up - but there is a lot of shady people and crime. As far as a military goes, if my town was 'invaded' it wouldn't take long for a militia to go up. A national guard could easily exist without an external military as well.

For some people its not about being courageous. Its about money, benefits, and education. So what if you think its primordial to go to war. YOU dont have to sign up. There are a million other jobs on this planet that are morally corrupt and so what. We do what we have to do to make money and live. Survival.
That may be my sad outlook but its true. Alot of people sign up to make a living. And that is so necessary. I would risk my life for money, education, food, and shelter so that I could make a life for myself.
"How much do I know, To talk out of turn, You must say that I'm young, You must say I'm unlearned, But theres a one thing I know, Though I'm younger than you, Even Jesus would never forgive what you do
And let me ask you one question, Is your money that good? Will it buy you forgiveness? Do you think that it could? I think you will find When your death takes its toll, All the money you made won't ever buy back your soul"
~ Bob Dylan (Masters of War - Freewheelin Dylan)
Is this what you want to say to me?
Yes my money is good. It lets me eat and afford shelter.

How can you stop anybody from picking up weapons and trying to impose their will? By opposing them with greater force. It has nothing to do with wealth.

You know what they say, "money is the root of all good" - definitely words of a wise man. The greatest minds on this planet have been purporting the importance of money over morality, civility, love and brotherhood - for many thousands of years.
Money: food for the soul.

Neither a militia nor a national guard would have a fucking chance against a real military but why do you think those are any different than what is being discussed?
National guard would be the modern manifestation of a militia, only its not really a militia anymore as it is employed in external conflicts. So my use of the term has been somewhat vague. The only reason for a military is to exert external force.
Not sure what you mean by a militia/national guard not standing a chance against a real military, this is quite an enormous country and it would be extremely difficult for anyone to mount a military expedition which could compete with 1% of our population (almost 4 million). National guard has tanks and planes, civilian population is gigantic.
Justifying external conflicts isn't going to get far, I'm not going to argue against it as the very idea would manifest an irreconcilable gulf between our ideas. A standing military exists for external purposes, maybe I'm wrong but thats what history has taught me.
