Ignatieff Admits to Smoking Pot
    #14373887 - 04/29/11 05:40 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

http://www.montrealgazette.com/life/Ignatieff+admits+smoking/4684123/story.html

Michael Ignatieff has smoked pot. The Liberal leader faced two questions Wednesday morning from high school students wanting to know what he would do about legalizing marijuana.

Ignatieff told the students he supports decriminalizing the possession of small amounts so young students are not penalized for a stupid mistake but that he won't legalize weed.

When asked by a reporter, after his town-hall with the students, whether he had ever had a joint, Ignatieff said: "I have smoked pot as a young man, yes . . . and it's one of the reasons why I urge young people not to repeat the experience. It did not ruin my life. I just think there are a lot more important and interesting things to do with your life, including a glass of wine after dinner.

"Hey, I mean, let's all relax here."

He's definitely better than most politicians, but still wrong on so many levels.
He urges young people not to smoke pot. Ok. Then why does it also have to be illegal? You can urge someone not to get black-out drunk regardless of the legality of that activity.
"I just think there are a lot more important and interesting things to do with your life, including a glass of wine after dinner." Well, that's just like, your opinion, man. You're welcome to share it, but don't jam it down our throats with the full force of the law. What if I'd rather have a joint after dinner? PRISON SENTENCE.
He'd rather get drunk, an act obviously more dangerous than getting high. That's fine too, but as a leader should he really be encouraging others to do so?

Anyone but the conservatives?

Look at your polls to see who is the most susceptible to win or block the conservator to have a seat and vote for them.

Strategic vote if you don't know for who to vote

Robert Pirsig - "When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion."

---

Brian Cox - "[One] problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it. The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense."

Decrim doesn't make any sense.  If you are saying it is ok for people to smoke by saying there should be no penalty, why keep it in a black market.  If there is nothing wrong with using it, why is there something wrong with selling it.  But, alas, thinking logically about drugs is forbidden!

--------------------
"A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

Sex is decriminalized. You can have it but not sell it.

NDP's pot policies are definitely the best of the 3 main contenders.  Vote for either them or liberal, depending on your riding.  Vote Green if you're in May's riding.

The most important thing in all of this is to block the conservatives.  Here's a tool that may help you strategize your vote accordingly- http://www.projectdemocracy.ca/.

Tool. Another hypocrite politician.

On behalf of all the families affected by the prohibition of drugs, fuck you mr politician.

Pity anyone ever supplied drugs to this douche. Assuming he didn't "manufacture" them himself.

Unlike some non-violent drug users, I personally don't tolerate any amount of cock in my asshole. I'm not about to thank this guy for taking it halfway out. An ass-rapin is still an ass-rapin no matter how deep they're fuckin ya.

Yes it sure is important and interesting when you choose the drug that kills thousands a year and is toxic to the entire body over the one that kills no one and makes you nice. Who tries weed and gives it up for alcohol? Isn't that interesting?

I have a feeling this guy is trying to appear "tough on crime" like many a snide politician, while at the same time reassuring cannabis users with his silly anecdote. Well, bad news Mike: you can't have it both ways.

Exactly, trying to play the, yea I smoked it acting like he doesn't want to look like your regular run of the mill politician. However acting like his experience with it strengthened his belief that it should stay illegal, but alcohol is alright. Typical hypocritical bullshit.

I mean there's better things to do with your life then sit around and watch tv all day but we aren't making that illegal.
