South Park
    #14373447 - 04/29/11 04:07 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

What do you think of the commentary on current events that South Park does on in a lot of its episodes?

I find myself agreeing with almost all of them. I especially liked the newest one in which they made a "human centipad" to represent how popular social media is making it so we have to "eat" all of each other's meaningless "shit" we post.

I haven't seen that one yet. I love sp though they expose alot of absurdity.

I thought that was pretty gross :argh: But then again, I've never seen The Human Centipede.

I find myself agreeing with SP's positions about half the time, and the other half of the time I'm annoyed by their oversimplifications of current events. Oftentimes they simply bite off more than they can chew in the course of a half hour of puerile cardboard-cutout-cartoon toilet humor.

South Park is one of my favorite social satires.

I thought the human centipede aspect of last night's episode was pretty disgusting and honestly unnecessary, but the parts about Apple busted me up.

IMO South Park lost all of its initial integrity many years ago. I still tend to watch it though, since it's usually good for a laugh. But most of their episodes now are painfully topical, and those that aren't are just WTF shitty. Like the Imaginationland "arc"? :picard: And I was frothing at the mouth when Cartman tamed Cthulhu.

Now Futurama, there is a quality cartoon.

Although I haven't seen the recent series, South Park is my favorite (along with the Simpsons but that's different), I think they're genial and watching them makes me think what sick cocktails trey and matt take to come up with some twisted stuff like that.

They do come up with some outrageous shit, but it's not like they just throw together random sketches of obscene nature. The absurdity in our culture does a lot of the work for them. It's like the dailyshow and colbertreport, except it's not nearly as politically concentrated.

I'm not going to get all philosophical. All I know is that I enjoy re-watching any South Park that actually has to do with the characters themselves. Anything that involves current events or social commentary almost always ends up being hard to re-watch for laughs.

Would I watch Human Centipad again? No. Would I watch the Go God Go (Nintendo Wii) eps again? Hell yes! I don't think they care about DVD sales though, really. They've already made mega millions off of South Park.

100% agreed. Futurama, I love you. Did you also like the Nintendo Wii eps?

well I don't see what's disgusting about that, they're just joking about one of the lousiest movies I've seen this year.

no. it would have been way funnier, imo if they continued to kill kenny. lately it seems a lot of bad shit is happening to kyle actually.
