A few meager finds from Eastern Ohio. The weather is in the low 70's and been raining on and off all night, and today. Tomorrow should be a better hunt, saw alot of pinners.

Great finds, Walupurgis!
I stopped down at my ovoid patch today and spent some time crawling through the knotweed.

I found a decent cluster of them growing from what looked like concrete and cement. Those ones had really beefy stems, like the last pic.
Awwww, its a baby!

So my original ovoid patch didn't have a whole lot of mature specimens, it's been raining for the past 2 days and will continue for today and tomorrow. There were, of course, tons of babies that I think will be ready in half a week or so.
I started walking through the woods near the creek where I found the first patch by, and my gosh are the woods flooded! I couldn't walk on the path because it was underwater--but hey, that'll only help the little blue guys once it dries up a little.
I walked a little further and came across a broken down park bench near some more knotweed and...

I came out with some of the biggest, meatiest ovoids I've ever found. Some of them were growing off of the decaying park bench. None were under that patch of knotweed, however, just around it.

I also found these lovebirds
edit: i must have dropped my camera into some wet dirt at some point in time, a lot of the shots have a blur on the left middle/bottom. whatevs

Based off of everything you guys have said about habitat, climate, weather, etc I should be rolling in them (with where I live). But nope, Guess I'm too far south for ovoids.

Ovoids have been found very far south. You can't just walk up to any stream and expect to find ovoids with little searching. Of the 15+ streams/rivers in my area I have checked, only ONE I have found ovoids at. And even at that creek, the ovoid patch is not omnipresent. I will find hundreds of medium/small ovoids at that one spot, but then walk hundreds of feet in either direction and not see a single ovoid.

Oh I know. I'm still trying. I'm a very determined person. I also wish I knew more places with bamboo. Because that seems to be a super common trend amongst a lot of the pictures I've seen.

Are you sure, because I just scrolled up to the top of this page and mylfgur's 2nd row 3rd picture has bamboo in it, and I know I've seen a few more that have bamboo chutes laying about in them. Unfrotuneately I can't think of anywhere that has jap knotweed in it.
